He advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to champion Michael Brennan.  Peter Gasperini (Halifax Country Club) Gasperini advanced to the semifinals of the VSGA Amateur for the second straight year, where he too fell victim to the Brennan buzzsaw.  Justin Young (Ballyhack Golf Club) The mid-amateur standout has been the low amateur at this event twice, and he’s shown he can go low, as evidenced by last year’s final-round 63.  Mark Lawrence Jr. (Independence Golf Club) Lawrence, set to begin his final year at Virginia Tech later this summer, seems to always be in the mix at Ballyhack.
