Framework for the Future 2521 Holman Street

Project Row Houses’ Summer Arts Education Program is pleased to partner with FotoFest’s Literacy Through Photography (LTP) program in presenting Frame- work for the Future, an exhibition of student artwork, photography and writing created by children from the Third Ward Community. The children, ages 7 – 14, have been working with Houston photographer and Literacy Through Photography cohort teacher Ben DeSoto cre- ating projects that explore the theme Framework for the Future. The LTP program utilizes photography and creative writing to help students in grades 3 – 12 learn to understand themselves, to honor their family and community, and to explore and share their dreams. The Framework for the Future student exhibition will be on view in conjunction with the Summer Studio installations August 13, 2011 through September 11, 2011.

About

PRH was founded in 1993 as a result of discussions among African-American artists who wanted to establish a positive, creative presence in their own community. Intersecting public art and social practice, Project Row Houses has invented a context where art can create real social change. Thus, the mission of Project Row Houses is to create community through the celebration of art and African American history and culture.

Project Row Houses is free and open to the public, Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00 – 5:00 PM. Large group tours can be arranged by calling 713.526.7662. Visit our website for more info: www.projectrowhouses.org.
