Maneka Gandhi by : INVC Team Published on : 16 Jul, 2015 03:24 PM IST Female to male ratio in Chhattisgarh best in India : Maneka Gandhi By : INVC Team Published On : 16 Jul, 2015 03:24 PM IST INVC NEWS Raipur, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Ms. Maneka Gandhi today said that the Chhattisgarh is one of the top States in female to male population ratio in the entire country. She appreciated the State Government's efforts in the socio-economic development of women in the State. The authorities are working towards women's empowerment. Ms. Maneka Gandhi while addressing the State-level Mahila Sammelan here lauded the presence of huge number of women. This is a sign of awareness among women. She appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in creating awareness among the women. The progress of the society depends upon the development of women. She launched 'Tejaswi' Scheme of the Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Department. Apart from this she also inaugurated the fourth phase of 'Navjatan' Yojana of the Women and Child Development Department. Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh presided over the function. Ms. Maneka Gandhi felicitated several women and self-help groups for their dedicated services. Dr. Raman Singh said that Chhattisgarh is one of the leading states where female foeticide is almost eliminated. The State is second after Kerala in women's education, curbing foeticide and women to men ratio. Child marriages also will be eliminated soon. Girls who are from poor families are provided with free education. 'Laadli Noni' Yojana is helping minor and other girls. Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Minister Ms. Ramsheela Sahu and Department Secretary Mr. Dinesh Srivastav also addressed the gathering. Lok Sabha MP Mr. Ramesh Bais, Agriculture Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal , Public Works Minister Mr. Rajesh Munat, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Bhayyalal Rajwade, Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Roopkumari Chowdhary, MLA Mr. Sreechand Sundrani, State Child Rights' Protection Commission Chairperson Mrs. Shatabdi Pande and a lot of women self-help group members were present at the meeting.
