It includes a car carried from the car park across three gardens and into the Lamorna stream. Lionel Martin the DVDs producer was part of the chart-topping group ‘the Four Pennies’ in 1964 with their hit ‘Juliet’, has written and presented Playaway and Playschool for the BBC and has played lead roles in several West End Musicals. The documentary "Barbara Hepworth" offers a rare chance to view the sculptor at work. She talks of her early life and her relationship with West Cornwall. She is seen at work on several of her pieces and in London to watch one of her bronzes being cast. This programme shows her love of form and texture and is a revealing study, not only of the sculptor but also of the woman. There follows a short film of Barbara Hepworth and Bernard Leach being given the freedom of St. Ives. They also receive gifts as a token of esteem from the people of the town. 163 Art Patrick Heron Title: Patrick Heron Description: A film about the life and works of West Cornwall artist Patrick Heron Maker: London Weekend Television Runtime: 53mins Date: 1986 Points of Interest: Patrick Heron CBE (30 January 1920 – 20 March 1999) was a British abstract and figurative artist, writer, and polemicist, who lived in Zennor, Cornwall. He was one of the most important British artists of the post war period. The film is partly shot in Cornwall, where he lived for over thirty years, and from whose landscape he derived much of his inspiration. The film gives a unique in-depth insight into his life and development. The final section shows him in his St. Ives studio, in 1986, as he sets out to create a major new work in his 'garden' series - a fifteen foot canvas painted during the course of one afternoon as the cameras turned. The film is introduced by Melvyn Bragg.

The train travels through Cornwall stopping to show you around some of the towns and villages on the way. When it reaches Penzance, there are a few scenes from the Promenade, note the absence of Jubilee Pool in the background. It then shows us towns and villages beyond Penzance Lands End and St. Ives among them. We know the film is circa 1912 because there is some footage of the wreck of "The City of Cardiff" which ran aground in 1912. 165 Art Alan Cotton Title: Cotton on Canvas Description: Follows Alan to Provence, Tuscany and Venice, where he has produced most of his current work Maker: Denham Productions Runtime: 30mins Date: 1994 Points of Interest: Alan Cotton is one of Britains most prolific, successful and accessible landscape painters. In his studio, he discusses his techniques of painting with a knife, and why he has recently begun to paint a series of nude studies. He has contributed much of his time over the last few years to the arts of the South West and was a founder member of the South West Academy of Fine & Applied Arts, together with artists Graham and Annie Ovenden, Michael Morgan and the late Brian Bearne. There have been a number of television films made about his work both by the BBC and ITV and he has written, presented and narrated arts films for BBC South West. It was during the making of 'An Artist on Every Corner' - a film about the Newlyn School of Artists that Alan met the man who was to become his dealer and close friend, David Messum.
