Here in Amber Valley we are fortunate to have one of the widest ranges of individual factory shop outlets anywhere in the country. This trail leaflet is designed to help you find the venues and gives details of the products sold. For those in the know, factory shop outlets offer excellent value for money. Often you are able to purchase items that are not available elsewhere; such as samples of new products and ranges, end of lines and seconds. Our leading manufacturers include household names; Denby, David Nieper and John Smedley and the product range is diverse. Several companies offer the chance to see the production processes involved which gives yet another reason to visit. Some of the shops are located in historic buildings and the De Bradelei complex at Belper and John Smedley at Lea Bridge are both within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. There are numerous talented artists and craftspeople based in Amber Valley. Some of those who have shops and studios are listed within the leaflet, while the Tourist Information Centre hosts a regular programme of exhibitions throughout the year. Whilst in the area, why not call into one of the local market towns - Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley. These all have a range of individual businesses and High Street names. There are a growing number of antique shops where you may find unusual and specialist goods. You will find plenty of places to eat, from cafes and restaurants to specialist outlets. Look out for menus which showcase recipes with locally-produced food. The staff at the Tourist Information Centre in Ripley will always be pleased to help with your queries. They can also give details on events and accommodation. Enjoy your visit. Map Reference Directions to locations are included in the individual entries. • A38 Derby Junctions Scheme—Little Eaton Junction
A38 DERBY JUNCTIONS SCHEME—LITTLE EATON JUNCTION. APPLICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER. WRITTEN REPRESENTATIONS BY BREADSALL PARISH COUNCIL TO THE EXAMINING AUTHORITY Part 1. Selection of the preferred route Breadsall Parish Council believes that the process by which Highways England (HE) and its predecessor the Highways Agency (HA) selected the preferred route for the Little Eaton junction was deeply flawed. As a result, the selection of the preferred route should be completely re-examined before the current Development Consent Order is processed. The selection process for the preferred route is described in Highways England’s own document “A38 Derby Junctions Scheme Assessment Report (PCF Stage 2)” a copy of which is attached. See especially section 5. BPC’s comments below quote paragraph numbers from this report. Much of the same material is contained in the “6.1 Environmental Statement Chapter 3 -Scheme history and assessment of alternatives” submitted by HE as part of the DCO application In highway terms the obvious way to re-design the Little Eaton junction is to route the A38 to the north of the present junction. This is the shortest and most direct route for the A38, and this was indeed the basis for options 1 and 2 originally proposed by the HA in 2002 (See para 5.4.1). In 2003 HA held a public consultation exercise based on revised high-speed versions of options 1 and 2 and a new third option routed to the south of the present junction (See para 5.4.6). In 2004 HA decided “on balance” to support the third option which is the basis of the current scheme.

As promised in the last volume of the Marriage Registers of Derbyshire, the marriage records of St. Alkmund's form the first instalment of the Registers of the County Town. The Editors do not doubt that these will prove especially interesting to Derbyshire people. In Volume V they hope to print further instalments of town registers in the shape of those of St. Michael's and also some village registers. It will be noticed that St. Alkmund's register begins at the earliest possible date, 1538, but of the remainder, two do not start till the seventeenth century and one, that of Quarndon, synchronizes with the passing of Lord Hardwicke's Marriage Act. 1379092 It will be convenient to give here a list of the Derby- shire parishes of which the Registers have been printed in this series: Volume I. National Character 42. Lincolnshire Coast and Marshes Area profile: Supporting documents www.gov.uk/natural-england 1 National Character 42. Lincolnshire Coast and Marshes Area profile: Supporting documents Introduction National Character Areas map As part of Natural England’s responsibilities as set out in the Natural Environment White Paper,1 Biodiversity 20202 and the European Landscape Convention,3 we are revising profiles for England’s 159 National Character Areas North (NCAs). These are areas that share similar landscape characteristics, and which East follow natural lines in the landscape rather than administrative boundaries, making them a good decision-making framework for the natural environment. Yorkshire & The North Humber NCA profiles are guidance documents which can help communities to inform West their decision-making about the places that they live in and care for. The information they contain will support the planning of conservation initiatives at a East landscape scale, inform the delivery of Nature Improvement Areas and encourage Midlands broader partnership working through Local Nature Partnerships. The profiles will West also help to inform choices about how land is managed and can change. Midlands East of Each profile includes a description of the natural and cultural features England that shape our landscapes, how the landscape has changed over time, the current key drivers for ongoing change, and a broad analysis of each London area’s characteristics and ecosystem services. Statements of Environmental South East Opportunity (SEOs) are suggested, which draw on this integrated information. South West The SEOs offer guidance on the critical issues, which could help to achieve sustainable growth and a more secure environmental future.
