The Agara lake is situated in Sy. No.l I with an extent of 05A 39G in Agara village and

Sy. No.ll with different Hissas (sub-division) to a total extent of l43A 25G in

Venkojiraokhane village of Begur Hobli, Bangalore South Taluk, .

The total extent of the lakeis l49A 24 G. The village nap of Venkojiraokhane village shows the existence ofthe Agara lake in Sy.no.l I is produced herewith.

The Agara Lake is situated to the South of Bellandur lake. The excess water from Agara lake overflows through the storm water drain (rajakaluve) to the Bellandur lake. The catchment area for Agara lake is the land on the eastern and westem sides which is adjacent to the lake.

Presently, the catchment area is fully developed by the BDA by forming HSR layout, which has allotted sites to various allottees who have put up constructions. Hence, presently the only source of water to the lake is rain water. The lake is in the custody of Lake Development Authority. When the lake was in the custody of BDA at the time of formation of HSR layout which is formed to the east of the Agara lake certain portions on the periphery of the lake land have been used for the formation of ring road, flyover and Civic Amenities sites. The BDA has also formed the 146 main road, HSR layout and the Storm Water Drain on the westem side of the lake which is within the lake boundary, which has resulted in the reduction of the total extent ofthe lake which at present measures 97 A-32G. BDA has developed this lake during the year 2002-03. However, due to the inflow of sewage through the storm water drains it has become necessary to restore the lake again. The preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for overall development and rejuvenation ofthe lake is in progress.

The lake area has to be resurveyed and encroachment/s ha ve to be evicted and fenced properly. The entry of the sewage in to the lake should be stopped and other developmental work has to be canied out by the BDA.

The catchment area for this lake is situated on the southem side as well as from the

Challaghata Valley on the North-Westem side.

The land acquired by the KIADB for the proposed SEZ is the land which is situated between the Agara lake and the Bellandur lake which is one of the catchment areas for the Bellandur lake. This area is classified as sensitive zone in the present CDP Master Plan 2015.
