Yuma Kagiyama (JPN) clinches lead in Junior Men’s Short Program Youth Olympic Games Champion Yuma Kagiyama of Japan clinched a narrow lead over Russia’s Andrei Mozalev in the Junior Men’s Short Program on Wednesday. Andrew Torgashev (USA) came in third. Skating to Piano Concerto “Fate” by Akira Senju, Kagiyama landed a triple Axel, triple loop, triple Lutz-triple toe combination and picked up a level four for his spins. The Four Continents bronze medalist scored 85.82 points. “I was very relaxed today,” he said. “I was little bit concerned about my triple Axel, but my practice has been going quite well so I was able to do it with confidence. “As for the Lutz-toe combination, it was a bit shaky on the first jump, but I was able to recompose myself after the first jump. “This is my last short program of the season, so I was very happy to do a good performance.     October 7, 2019 Egna/Neumarkt, Italy Skaters from Russia and Italy grab last spots for the Final at ISU Junior Grand Prix in Egna Kseniia Sinitsyna (RUS), Daniel Grassl (ITA), Petr Gumennik (RUS) and ice dancers Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva/Andrey Filatov (RUS) grabbed the last available spots for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final as this season‘s Junior Grand Prix series concluded in Egna/Neumarkt (ITA) this weekend. The nine medals went to four ISU members. Kseniia Sinitsyna (RUS) dominates in Egna Kseniia Sinitsyna (RUS) cruised to her first Junior Grand Prix gold medal with almost 40 points to spare. The 15-year-old skated to a confident lead in the Short Program with an excellent performance. Skating last in the last event of the ISU Junior Grand Prix series the Muscovite ended on a very high note with a flawless performance to Indian music that was highlighted by seven triples and difficult spins and footwork. Sinitsyna totaled 215.58 points. With her gold from Egna and the silver from Chelyabinsk, she qualified for her first Junior Final. Anna Frolova (RUS) claimed the silver medal to follow up on her bronze from Zagreb the week before. However, the 14-year-old, who trains together with Sinitsyna, missed a triple Lutz in her routine to “Notre Dame de Paris”. Alessia Tornaghi (ITA), who ranked seventh in the Short Program, pulled up to third with a strong performance that included seven triples. The bronze is her first medal on the circuit. “Of course, I am pleased with the competition in Italy, because I fulfilled my task – to skate both programs clean,” Sinitsyna said.

    April 13, 2021 Osaka, Japan Top six Figure Skating teams get ready for ISU World Team Trophy 2021 Some of the World’s best Figure Skaters are set to compete at the seventh edition of the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating from April 15 to 18 in Osaka, Japan. Russia tops the list of the six ISU members that have qualified for the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating. The ISU World Team Trophy is a biennal event. Overview over the teams Russia collected 9847 points towards the qualification followed by the USA (8001 points) and Japan with 6441 points. The other directly qualified ISU Members are Canada (5580) and Italy (4021). China was qualified with 4537 points but does not send a team allowing France (3905 points) to compete instead. Team Russia features three newly minted ISU World Figure Skating Champions Anna Shcherbakova, Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov and Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov. 2021 ISU World Figure Skating silver medalist Elizaveta Tuktamysheva is the team captain. 2018 ISU World Figure Skating bronze medalist Mikhail Kolyada and Evgeni Semenenko are competing as well. Three-time and reigning ISU World Figure Skating Champion Nathan Chen leads Team USA.     March 31, 2021 Lausanne, Switzerland Top 6 teams qualify for ISU World Team Trophy 2021 Russia leads the six ISU Members that have qualified for the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating in Osaka (JPN), April 15 to 18, 2021. The ISU World Team Trophy is a biennial event. Russia tops the standings with 9847 points followed by the USA (8001 points) and Japan with 6441 points. The other directly qualified ISU Members are Canada (5580) and Italy (4021). China was qualified with 4537 points but will not send a team allowing France (3905 points) to compete instead. Overview of the participants Russia sends three newly minted World Champions Anna Shcherbakova, Pair Skaters Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov and Ice Dancers Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov. Also included are the 2021 World silver medalist Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, 2018 World bronze medalist Mikhail Kolyada and Evgeni Semenenko, who were fifth and eighth in Stockholm and the highest ranked European men. The USA come with Nathan Chen, who just claimed his third World title in Stockholm. He is joined by top-ten World competitors Jason Brown, Karen Chen, Bradie Tennell, Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier and Kaitlin Hawayek/Jean-Luc Baker. Japan sends two-time Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu and 2018 Olympic silver medalist Shoma Uno as well as two-time Four Continents Champion Rika Kihira, Kaori Sakamoto, Pair Skaters Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara and Ice Dancers Misato Komatsubara/Tim Koleto. Team Canada is led by Nam Ngyuen and 2017 World bronze medalist Gabrielle Daleman. Team Italy includes 2019 European bronze medalist Matteo Rizzo, 2019 World Junior bronze medalist Daniel Grassl, 2019 European Ice Dance bronze medalists Charlene Guignard/Marco Fabbri as well as Pair Skaters Nicole Della Monica/Matteo Guarise.
