Celebrate the holidays with Tutoring Chicago

The holidays are a special time at Tutoring Chicago, and this year is no exception! While our typical festivities will look slightly different, we still have plenty of opportunities for you to ensure a festive holiday season for 900 Chicago students.

Fulfill students' wish lists Each year, students write a holiday letter that includes a wish list with requests for something they want, something they need, and something to read. We send these letters to donors (businesses, families, etc.) who purchase, wrap, and deliver the gifts to Tutoring Chicago. Gifts are due by Friday, December 11 at 5:00 pm. Become a gift distribution sponsor ($500 value/truck) Gifts will be distributed on Saturday, December 12 at eight different locations around Chicago. Gift distribution sponsors will provide a delivery truck and driver OR can underwrite the cost for Tutoring Chicago to rent the truck/driver. Distribution locations are TBD, if your company would like to make use of your parking lot or other open space, please let us know. SEE BACK PAGE FOR MORE DETAILS.

Volunteers needed! Gift organization volunteers will be needed December 7-11 at St. Vincent De Paul Center to collect, audit, and organize gift deliveries. (Time TBD)

Gift distribution volunteers will assist Tutoring Chicago staff with handing out gifts on Saturday, December 12 at eight locations across Chicago. Holiday attire is encouraged! (Time TBD)

Please note these important highlights, changes, dates and details for 2020: Each child will draft a special wish list/letter asking for a want, a need, and something to read. Elves like you should plan to purchase one item from each category. We do ask the children to request two options per category, giving you few options while shopping. Expect to spend no more than $50 total per child. We ask that donors accept a minimum of 5 letters. We aim to send you PDF versions of your students’ letters by November 12, if not sooner. All gifts must be received by Tutoring Chicago the week of December 7th-11th. Each child’s gifts must be wrapped and delivered in ONE gift wrapped box this year to help ease our distribution. We will send more detailed instructions for wrapping and delivery when we send your letters.

Gift Distribution Sponsors: $500 value Sponsors will provide a delivery truck/driver OR underwrite the cost Tutoring Chicago incurs to rent a truck/driver. Sponsors are encouraged to provide a preferred gift distribution site based on office/employee location (must be within city of Chicago). Sponsors are highly encouraged to recruit employees to assist with gift distribution on December 12...holiday attire and creativity encouraged!
