Brazil: Alagoas Basin 2D Multi-Client Seismic Available

Legend - Paraiba Phase 1: 5,600 km Sergipe Alagoas 2014 - 16,341 km Sergipe Reprocessing - 9,638 km Round 16 Blocks

In 2014 Spectrum completed acquisition of a 16,000 km PreSTM and PreSDM data is available now. Multi-Client 2D seismic survey offshore in the Sergipe and Alagoas Basins along the eastern margin of Brazil. To complement the new acquisition in this active The acquisition program ties key wells in these basins, exploration area, Spectrum has also completed the including the recent Barra, Muriu, and Farfan discoveries reprocessing of 9,600 km of data through both PreSTM in the Sergipe Basin. and PreSDM. Both new and existing seismic data covers several blocks awarded in Brazil’s 14th and 15th Licensing The data was acquired with a 10,000 m offset in order to Rounds. better image the basin architecture and the prospective zones in the mid and lower Cretaceous sections.

New Acquisition Exploration History The Sergipe-Alagoas Basin in northeast Brazil has been producing oil and gas for more than 40 years from the offshore area, and in 2010 Petrobras discovered a new offshore outboard of existing production. Petrobras and its partners have discovered numerous fields that warrant further evaluation within this 10,000 km² area, and preliminary development plans are ongoing.

In all, approximately 20 exploration and appraisal wells have been drilled in water depths ranging from 1,000 m to 3,000 m. The discoveries comprise 3 billion barrels of oil in place and recent appraisal wells are causing that number to rise. These discoveries are in turbidite channel systems of late Cretaceous to early Tertiary age, as well as older, rifted basin fill. It is highly probable that these plays extend further outboard to the east and southeast where additional opportunities exist in a basin floor fan setting. To the northeast, primarily in the Alagoas Basin, exploration opportunities exist in the channel fill sediment play, rifted basin fill, and faulted Paleozoic sediments.

Spectrum has acquired new, long offset 2D seismic in prospective areas of the Sergipe and Alagoas Basins and has reprocessed existing seismic data. The new acquisition and reprocessed data have the same phase and polarity, and create an integrated data volume spanning the shallow water shelf to the deep water basin.
