National Solar Mission launched by the Government of India, envisages 1,00,000 MW of installed solar capacity by 2022. The capacity addition will be achieved through deployment of 40,000 MW of rooftop solar projects and 60,000 MW large & medium scale solar projects.

Maharashtra being one of the progressive States in adopting renewable energy has set a target of 11926 MW solar power installations upto 2022. As on date, installed solar power generation capacity is about 385 MW.

In line with Government’s mission to promote green power, MITCON Foundation (NGO) has set up a 40 kWp Rooftop Solar Power Project at its Management Institute Campus, at Balewadi, Pune.

Generated power from the project will be utilized for captive consumption of the Institute. The project will reduce annually 58 tonnes of carbon di oxide emissions which is equivalent to plantation of 2647 trees or emission reduction from 35 normal cars, annually.
