LAST MEETING AGAINST THE TITANS Nate Harris and Cass Matheus each scored 21 points to lead Utah UTAH STATE VS. CAL STATE FULLERTON - 3/11/05 State to an 84-77 win against Cal State Fullerton in the semifinals of the 2005 Big West Tournament on Mar. 11, 2005 in Anaheim, Calif. Utah State had a 34-33 lead at half-time behind 15 first-half points from Matheus, who scored a career-high 21 on the night, shooting 8-of-12 from the field. The Aggies biggest lead of the game came with 12:39 remaining on a layup by Harris to give Utah State a 55-44 advantage. Cal State Fullerton then scored seven straight points to cut the lead to four at 55-51 with 11:16 remaining. Utah State took its lead back to nine points at 71-62 on a bucket by Harris with 5:02 remaining before Fullerton’s Jermaine Harper hit back-to-back three’s to cut the lead to three. The Titans Yaphett King cut USU’s lead to two at 75-73 with 1:33 remaining, but Harris answered with another tip-in basket on the following possession. Utah State then made five-of-eight free throws in the final 46 seconds to seal the win. Cal State Fullerton scored the first seven points of the game and lead 24-15 with 10:18 remaining in the half before Utah State went on a 12-2 run to tie the game at 29. The Titans then scored four straight points only to see the Aggies score the final five points of the half to take a one-point lead into the locker room. Utah State’s Spencer Nelson added 14 points and 10 rebounds for his league-leading 10th double- double of the year, while Jaycee Carroll added 12 points and seven rebounds. King led all scorers in the game with 26 points, while Harper had 21 converting 7-of-11 three-pointers. Bobby Brown added 18 points and five assists for the Titans, while Ralphy Holmes had 10 points and nine rebounds. Utah State finished the game by shooting 50.8 percent from the field and held Cal State Fullerton to 46.0 percent shooting. USU also out-rebounded the Titans 39-34 and the Aggies recorded a season-high 19 offensive rebounds in the game.

LAST MEETING AGAINST THE TITANS IN LOGAN Freshman Jaycee Carroll drilled 5-of-6 three-pointers en route to 24 points to lead Utah State to an 84-60 basketball victory against Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 20, 2005 in Logan. Carroll’s output was his second best of the season as he had a career-best 28 points against UC Santa Barbara earlier this month. He made 8-of-10 field UTAH STATE VS. CAL STATE FULLERTON - 1/20/05 goal attempts while leaving the court twice in the first half due to an ankle sprain. Carroll had eight points at half-time and then scored nine points in a three-minute span early in the second half to give USU a 60-36 lead with 13:57 remaining in the game. Car- roll’s scoring spree was part of a 15-5 run for the Aggies, who then coasted to the 84-60 win. Three other Aggies reached double fig- ures as Nate Harris scored 12 points, Spencer Nelson 11 and David Pak 10. Nelson and Harris each had a team-best seven rebounds. Cal State Fullerton was led by Ralphy Holmes, who scored 14 points and had a game high nine rebounds. Bobby Brown chipped in 11 for the visitors. The teams played close through most of the first half and were tied at 20 with 8:40 to go in the period. With USU leading 28-27, the Aggies closed the half on a 10-0 run to take a 39-27 advantage into the locker room. USU continued its onslaught out-scoring the visitors 21-9 to open the second period and put the game away. Jason Williams came off the bench to have one of his better games of the season as he made 4-of-5 shots for nine points. He also had six rebounds, four assists and two steals in 26 minutes of play. For the game USU out-shot CSF 57.1 percent to 38.5 percent. The Titans were just 6-of-28 from three-point range, while USU connected on 8-of-14 three-point attempts. In addition to Carroll’s 5-of-6 night from beyond the circle, Chris Huber hit 2-of-3 attempts and Williams was 1-of-1. USU used a huge advantage at the free throw line making 12-of-21 shots, while CSF was 4-of-6.
