AZURE WINS TWO FRAUD-DETECTION CONTRACTS IN PAKISTAN Submitted by: Pirate Communications Wednesday, 22 June 2005

Paktel and Pakcom to implement Azure’s Fraud Control System Azure Solutions, the revenue-assurance company, today announced that it had won two contracts to provide its Fraud Control System to Paktel and Pakcom, two Pakistani mobile telecommunications players operating in Pakistan since early 1990’s. ’s (Pakcom) current TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) network covers more than 185 cities. Instaphone has maintained its position as trendsetter by being the first to introduce pre-paid mobile connections, covering all four provinces of Pakistan, introducing most economical packages as well prepaid card denominations. Instaphone now plans to introduce CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology in mobile telephony in Pakistan. CDMA right now is the highest growing technology globally. Paktel, the founder of the cellular industry in Pakistan, and operating the most extensive TDMA network in the country, recently launched its GSM network throughout Pakistan. It offers competitive packages with a variety of services. Both operators required a fraud-detection system that could detect a wide range of potentially fraudulent activity across their networks and be scaleable to their individual needs and requirements. The Azure Fraud Control System allows operators to detect fraud across their network effectively and efficiently. It uses intelligent and unique detection technology, and accepts multiple data feeds to allow all types of products or service to be monitored (fixed, mobile, interconnect, IP etc). The Azure Fraud Control System enables operators to: ·flexibly configure, control and define fraud detection rules ·intelligently detect anomalous and unusual behaviour ·identify fraudsters and criminal activity through event fingerprinting ·monitor SMS and IP content to provide fraud detection for e-commerce and next-generation technologies ·improve efficiency and effectiveness of fraud-detection teams through comprehensive case management workflow and report generation ·enhance their visualisation capabilities allowing for ease of identification of fraud issues. John Cronin, president and CEO of Azure, said: “We are delighted to be working with Paktel and Pakcom and further expanding Azure’s presence in Asia. The issue of fraud is becoming of increased importance for many operators and the Azure Fraud Control System provides operators with the flexibility to efficiently and effectively detect and reduce all types of fraud across their network. ” Xavier Rocoplan of Paktel, said: “Having just been granted a GSM licence, it was vital that we had an effective fraud-detection system in place and this system will enable us to provide a better cellular service which will ultimately benefit the customers. Azure’s heritage and expertise in combating telecoms fraud made it a very attractive company to work with.” Ian Williams of Pakcom, said: “Azure’s Fraud Control System gives our fraud management team the flexibility and control it requires. We now will be able to migrate customers across technology
