1. Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) 2. Chartered Club by Student Programs & Leadership 3. PRSSA aspires to advance the public relations profession by developing ethically responsible pre-professionals who champion diversity, strive for an outstanding and advocate for the profession. Activities include firm tours, career planning seminars, career workshops and much more. 4. Open to all full-time Roger Williams University . 5. PRSSA will not practice any discrimination against a member or prospective member on the basis of sex, handicap, race, age, color, sexual orientation, political affiliation, marital status, national origin, or , except specifically exempted by law. 6. Finance: National dues costs $55 for the whole entire year and local dues are $30 ​ coming out to $85 for total dues. 7. Officers: a. Chapter President: Motivate executive board and members through enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA, preside at all membership and executive board meetings, appoint committees and advise chairs; advise members about Chapter activities, delegate responsibilities of officers and committees, direct overall Chapter operations, recommend and establish goals and objectives for the Chapter with the approval of the membership, Faculty and Professional Advisers, assist the treasurer in collecting dues and provide an accurate dues form to PRSSA Headquarters by Nov. 1 and March 1, Stay in contact with the PRSSA National Committee. b. Vice President: Motivate members through his or her enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA, perform presidential duties if the president is absent or unable to perform them, help the president coordinate and direct committee activities and Chapter operations, perform duties as delegated by the president, counsel the president by recommending goals, objectives, plans and programs, coordinate and disseminate information about the PRSA New Professionals Section and PRSA Associate Membership for graduating PRSSA members. c. Secretary: Motivate members through his or her enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA, prepare agendas with assistance by the president; handle Chapter correspondence, record and distribute the minutes of all executive board and membership meetings, maintain a record of Chapter members with school and permanent home addresses, keep the Chapter’s charter, other permanent documents and Chapter Handbook, notify PRSSA Headquarters and PRSA sponsor Chapters of changes in Chapter leaders through the Chapter Officer Form at the end of the academic year.

d. Treasurer: Motivate members through his or her enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA, work with the president in preparing the annual budget, collect Chapter and national dues, with the assistance of the president, and completely and accurately prepare the PRSSA dues form, provide financial reports periodically to the Chapter membership, collect fees for any Chapter special events and fundraisers, disburse Chapter funds with proper approval, provide safekeeping for all Chapter funds and keep accurate financial records. e. Method of selection for cabinet members are to be done by vote (⅔ Majority) and all members are able to vote. f. In replacing an officer, that vote must be conducted by the executive board. 8. Advisor: Doctor Amiee Shelton has been the faculty advisor for PRSSA for numerous ​ years. Doctor Shelton is a Professor of Communications here at Roger Williams University, PhD in public relations from Salve Regina University, and has earned an Accreditation of Public Relations (APR) from PRSA National. Doctor Shelton’s duties include: Set a tone of professionalism for the Chapter, its officers and members, motivate members through example and counsel to be active members of PRSSA, provide the resources, support and mentoring to members that enhance their leadership development, stress that PRSSA is a national organization; it is the affiliate of PRSA, the world’s largest organization of public relations professionals, stress that a PRSSA Chapter is not a “club.”, represent the Chapter in the sponsoring academic department, explain the objectives of PRSSA to other faculty members, obtain the support of faculty and other or university officials in decision-making positions on behalf of PRSSA and of public relations as a “teachable” profession, communicate department messages to Chapter members and sponsoring PRSA Chapter, continue communication with the sponsoring PRSA Chapter, particularly with the PRSA member who has been designated as the PRSSA Chapter’s Professional Adviser, to encourage an active, productive relationship between the PRSSA and PRSA Chapters. 9. Meetings will be based on a bi-weekly basis based off of the officers request. Meetings before major events may be called upon but only with approval from Student Programs & Leadership and advisor. 10. Amendment: will be approved and voted on by a ⅔ vote. Examples of this can be ​ destinations for firm tours and voting for e-board members. 11. Regulations: The Public Relations Student Society of America will abide by the Code of ​ Student Conduct and other laws stated and appointed by Roger Williams University, Student Programs & Leadership, and the Student Senate based for the students. PRSSA will also follow the anti-hazing as they will not act in any hazing events abided in the laws of Roger Williams University. 12. Rules: PRSSA will abide by all rules and regulations made by Roger Williams ​ University and Student Programs & Leadership.
