Could this be you? Each year we ask gaming funders and charitable/community organisations for funding to obtain resources, equipment and items that we just can’t afford from Ministry of Education school funding or your parent donations.

Each year we get about $5,000- $10,000. Over the years this has purchased kapa haka dresses and piupiu, netball uniforms, robots, brainbox electronic kits, school bike servicing and maintenence, bike and scooters racks, ovens and cookware, gardening items and fruit trees, compost, shadesails (see the photos) ....just to name a few. But this only happens as we had a parent volunteer who made applications for us and she is no longer able to do this on a continued basis so we are looking for interest within our school whanau.

The job is as big or small as you want it to be Typically an application may take 8-10 hrs in total, to make phone calls or emails for quotes, talking with staff (principal and office), preparing paperwork for BOT/ principal signoffs, filling in forms, writing a small project cover sheet, closing out funding with receipts and some more forms....

It’s a great way to be involved and contribute to school activities but also looks great on your CV if you want to add to your set of skills to return to work. Do you think over a term you could spare some time. At min 1 application a term 8-10 hours (that’s about 1 hour a week!)

Some of the tasks are: • Checking school grants email • Keeping eye on upcoming grants ( we have a table) and checking in with Kelly on needs term by term. • Obtaining quotes from suppliers • Filling out (online or printed forms) applications forms • In some cases writing a project page about the funding need • Working with office staff to get BOT /Principal signoff or BOT resolutions • Closing out the grant reconciliation with invoices and receipts and sending back forms or closing out online • Keeping records for school file Ensuring thanks are made in school communications.

If you are organised, like a little bit of persuasive writing, or feel confident emailing/calling suppliers and have basic IT skills to access and complete online forms/emails then Kelly would love to hear from you [email protected]

We have grant funding resources setup so a lot of the hard work is sorted, and Lee-Ann Newton has offered to provide support to get you up and running or if you have issues as you go.

Term 2 is the last term that Pak’n’Save will be running the receipt scheme. We are grateful to Pak’n’Save Porirua for all of the money they have donated to ourschool for this scheme and to our lovely school community for bring- ing in their Pak’n’Save receipts form Pa- k’n’Save Porirua. The last day to bring in Pa- k’n’Save receipts is this Friday, 21 June. https://www.entertainmentbook.co.nz/orderbooks/1054h92? fbclid=IwAR1HvpVR3II5brjotcx5e7UXmt9l9znKJlxRx2kHfeh0V0cSaagAa yxpa6M
