Music Bulletin Week Beginning – 8th June 2020 Your musical update from Ms Charatan, Ms Welch and Ms Li Hello everyone! With the promise of the Premier League starting some matches next week, this week’s bulletin theme is SPORTS. We hope the songs and links get you in a sporty and energetic mood! As always, keep emailing in your work, suggestions and responses to the bulletin – we would love to hear them. Have a good week! AJK Songs of the Week: Sports! This week’s theme is all about Sport! We know a lot of you have been keeping fit with AJK PE challenges and online workouts, but we’ve had to get used to life without live sport for the past few months. From next week, however, we should be seeing more sport back on our screens – read about it here. We hope these songs get you in the mood for watching or playing sport! Many thanks to Mr Luck for choosing these. This song was released to mark ’s hosting of the Y7: Three Lions – Baddiel, Skinner ARK JOHN KEATS and the Lightning Seeds (1996) European Championships that year, but it’s become the de facto ‘anthem’ of English football since then with it’s catchy ‘It’s coming home’ chorus! Y8: – New Order This song was produced for the England team’s 1990 FIFA (1990) World Cup campaign. Notice the catchy ostinatos and riffs!

Y9: You’ll Never Walk Alone – This song is originally from a 1940’s musical – Carousel, but it’s Gerry and the Pacemakers (1963) better known as Liverpool FC’s anthem. It’s also recently had a resurgence to raise money for victims of Covid-19 – read about

Y10: Tour de France (album) – The German electronic band Kraftwerk recorded this album for th Kraftwerk (2003/2009) the 100 anniversary of the first Tour de France bicycle race. Y11: Soul Limbo – Booker T and This song is best known as the theme tune for BBC cricket
