HIGH-SPEED Euroduplex Avelia range

Euroduplex, the only double- GENERAL DESCRIPTION decker running over Euroduplex is part of the Avelia range, based on proven technology with more than 1,000 high-speed trains in service worldwide. 300 km/h in the world, Its articulated architecture provides enhanced safety and comfort at very high speed while allows optimized cost per reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs. With its double deck, Euroduplex is the highest-capacity high-speed train on the seat while guarantying interoperable TSI* networks. safety and comfort. CUSTOMER BENEFITS

High capacity with comfort Enhanced passenger experience Euroduplex is the only double decker With 15 passenger rooms instead of 8, running at 300 km/h in the world. It operators can offer several ambiances on- increases passenger capacity without board. The architecture enables space for increasing the length of the train. luggage at floor level and/or within Euroduplex allows from 20% to 40% more passenger view, wide catering area, toilets capacity than a single decker train within on upper and lower deck. The continuous the same level of service and comfort. It upper-deck allows fluid mobility. It is easily therefore offers the lowest investment accessible with the widest doors at cost per seat. European platform level. Its articulated architecture provides a smooth ride thanks to bogies placed between cars as well as reduced rolling noise and vibrations.

Reduced operating costs Truly cross-border Euroduplex reduces operating costs thanks Euroduplex is TSI certified and designed for to its articulated architecture. This implies cross-border interoperability. The train is in fewer bogies per train and therefore less service in 5 countries: , Germany, maintenance: bogies counts for 30% of the Switzerland, Spain, Luxembourg and soon cost of preventive maintenance. The total energy consumption is 6 % lower per train, and 20% lower per seat, compared to a non-articulated single decker train

Concentrated traction Architecture Articulated double deck From 500 to 600 passengers (in 200 m version) Capacity Highest version in commercial service: 1268 passengers (400 meter version) Service peed 320 km/h (tested at 350 km/h) Length 200 meters Width Standard UIC 505-1 G2 and GB V150 set the 574.8 km/h world speed Power supply 25 kV, 15 kV, 3 kV, 1.5 kV record in April 2007 with AGV motorized Weight 442 t bogies and traction blocks. Maximum axle load 17 t Safety - low maintenance - energy efficiency

Articulated technology was specifically designed for very high-speed and consists in placing bogies between cars. This architecture offers numerous advantages, in particular in terms of safety: the rigidity of the train prevents deformation and largely limits the risk of tipping over in the event of derailment. It also ensures enhanced resistance to crosswinds, along with the elimination of most vibrations and track noise, to offer a high standard of on-board comfort. The use of articulated technology leads to a reduction of the number of bogies (13 vs. 16), which account for 30% of total maintenance costs. The reduced number of bogies also allows a lower energy consumption by limiting aerodynamic resistance. Combined with the increase of capacity, this architecture targets an energy consumption per seat reduced by 20% compared to single decker non-articulated train (total energy consumption: 6% lower) even with distributed traction.

Accessibility and fluid internal mobility

The train is easily accessible from European platforms with the widest doors at level access: 1 025m. The lower deck provides toilets, space for luggages at floor level and offers quiet atmosphere: limited passenger flow, vibrations and track noise. Internal moving floor is available for easy wheel chair access. The upper floor provides toilets, space for luggages as well as a wide catering area (at-seat catering possible). The upper deck offers fluid mobility along all cars without steps, and panoramic view.
