Postgame Notes Updated Records • Arizona scored 20 points in the opening quarter Saturday night, marking the Arizona All-Time team’s highest first quarter scoring output since scoring 24 at Washington State on 600-444-33 Oct. 25, 2014. • All 20 of the Wildcats’ first quarter points came on rushing . Saturday Arizona vs. Hawaii marked the first time since at least 1996 that Arizona scored three rushing touch- 5-0-0 downs in the first quarter. Brandon Dawkins had two of the scores and Tyrell Johnson added the other. Career • DeAndre’ Miller recorded a sack on Hawaii’s first drive of the game Saturday, 155-105-2 (23rdYear) extending Arizona’s consecutive games with a sack to 15. The streak began last season against Nevada in the team’s second game of 2015. Rich Rodriguez at Arizona 35-21 (5th Year) • Senior Nate Phillips finished with three catches for 35 yards and extended his consecutive games with a reception streak to 36 games. He’s tied with Virginia’s Taquan Mizzell for the fifth longest streak in the nation by active players. He and Mizzell have the longest active streak of any Power 5 Conference players. Arizona Under Rodriguez • Phillips now has 130 catches for his career, which is the 11th most in Arizona At Home (2016) history. Phillips entered the game with 127 and passed Cayleb Jones and David 22-7 (2-0) Roberts, who were tied for 11th with 128. Teammate Samajie Grant had two catches Saturday and now has 133 for his career, which is 9th most all-time at Arizona. He entered the game tied with Syndric Steptoe for ninth. On Road 11-11 (0-0) • Quarterback Brandon Dawkins finished with three rushing touchdowns in the win . It’s the first time an Arizona quarterback has rushed for three scores since B.J. Neutral Site Denker did it in 2013 at California. 2-3 (0-1) • Dawkins rushed for 118 yards in the win, marking the first time an Arizona quar- terback has rushed for more than 100 yards since Jerrard Randall did it last season Non-Conference against Washington State. Randall finished with 105 yards. The 118 yards were the 17-2 (2-1) most rushing yards by an Arizona quarterback since Randall had 128 last season against UCLA. Pac-12 Conference • Freshman J.J. Taylor inished with 168 yards to lead the Wildcats. It’s the first time 18-19 (0-0) since Sept. 26, 2015 versus UCLA that Arizona finished with two rushers totaling 100 or more yards. In that affair, Nick Wilson had 136 yards and Randall had 128. Arizona Scores First 23-7 (1-0) • Taylor’s 168 rushing yards were the most by an Arizona true freshman since Nick Wilson had 178 against Arizona State in the 2014 regular season finale. Taylor’s 9.3 yards per carry were the most by a true freshman since Wilson averaged 10.9 yards Opponent Scores First per carry against Utah in 2014. 12-14 (1-1) • The Wildcats finished with 347 rushing yards in the win; the most since totaling 368 against Oregon State last season. Arizona Wins Turnover Battle 20-2 (2-0) • The Wildcats had three players make their first career starts Saturday against Hawaii. On , redshirt freshmen Cody Creason and Christian Boettcher Opponent Wins Turnover Battle both started for the first time on the offensive line. Creason started at right tackle. 5-14 (0-1) Boettcher started at left guard. On , true freshman Tristan Cooper started at the Spur safety position. Turnovers Even • Cooper finished with eight tackles, which was tied for the team lead with Paul 10-5 (0-0) Magloire and Michael Barton. Cooper also had a pass breakup that led to an inter- ception by Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles. Scores 30+ Points • The win Saturday marked the 600th in program history for Arizona. The Wildcats 31-8 (1-0) are 600-444-33 all-time. Scores 40+ Points • Arizona had nine different receivers catch at least one pass in Saturday’s win. 19-2 (1-0) That’s the most since having 10 grab at least one reception in a 44-20 win over Ne- vada last season. 100+ Rushing Yards • Sophomore safety Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles intercepted his second pass in as 33-15 (1-1) many weeks in Saturday’s win. The Tucson product had one interception as a fresh- man all of last season. 200+ Rushing Yards 25-4 (2-0)
