Musselroe shows the power of investment grade policy

Tasmania’s 168 MW , featuring Vestas V90-3.0 MW turbines officially opens today.

The 168 megawatt (MW) Musselroe Wind Farm was officially opened today, and has been one of the biggest construction projects in Tasmania’s north east for many years.

Vestas supplied 56 units of the V903.0 MW wind turbine and has a ten year full scope service agreement for the project. The steel towers for the project were manufactured by Launceston engineering firm Haywards, continuing Vestas’ track record of supporting local suppliers.

Musselroe Wind Farm is operated by Woolnorth Wind Farm Holdings, a joint venture between Shenhua Clean Energy Holdings (SCE) and .

SCE is a subsidiary of the Shenhua Group, one of China's leading energy companies. Hydro Tasmania is Australia’s largest renewable energy generation business and has been a longtime customer of Vestas.

With the $400 million Musselroe project, Vestas has now installed more than 50 percent of wind energy capacity in Australia.

Woolnorth Wind Farm Holdings also operates the 65 MW Bluff Point Wind Farm featuring 37 Vestas V661.75 MW turbines and the 75 MW Studland Bay Wind Farm featuring 25 Vestas V903.0 MW turbines.

Vestas has installed 8,500 units of the V903.0 MW wind turbine globally, making it one of the most popular Vestas turbines.
