Generations For Peace awarded “Top-Ranked – Superstar” status by GlobalGiving, and pro-bono support from top communications firm Dentsu Aegis Network

30 March 2016 – , Jordan: Due to the success of the Generations For Peace crowdfunding campaign to support empowerment of women in Nigeria, last year the GlobalGiving crowdfunding platform awarded Generations For Peace “Top Ranked – Superstar” status and invited the organisation to apply to receive pro-bono support from Dentsu Aegis Network through its Route to Good programme. This programme matches Dentsu Aegis Network employees with selected non-profit organisations to develop media, marketing and communication strategies.

Dentsu Aegis Network works with companies in 145 countries around the world to communicate products and brands effectively through a variety of speciality services. Companies it has worked with range from Adidas to General Motors, and it also has a strong corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme focused on environment, community, marketplace, workplace, and governance.

Two Dentsu Aegis employees are working with Generations For Peace for 12 months to assist the organisation with strategies for social media, Google AdWords, expanded video marketing, and improved presentation of financial data according to industry best practices.

Jake Hewlet, Client Director at iProspect, which is part of Dentsu Aegis Network, said: “Working for Generations For Peace has been a fulfilling and interesting experience. It’s been great to understand how their organisation works and discover ways in which I’m able to apply my skillset to meaningfully contribute, even if it’s just in a small way. Generations For Peace have been incredibly enthusiastic and positive people to work with and I’m looking forward to continuing my work with the team over the coming months.”

Jason Smith, Financial Analyst, Dentsu Aegis Network, added: “I seized the opportunity to volunteer and lend my support to Generations For Peace as it allows me to work with an organisation that is doing fantastic work on a relatively small budget and is making a real difference to those involved. It also gives me the chance to try out something different to my normal role and develop my mentoring and coaching skills.”

Eleanor Harrison, CEO of GlobalGiving UK, commented: “I am delighted that we are able to offer this high impact programme to GlobalGiving partner charities. Lack of access to key skills and resources within the SME charity sector is a barrier to organisational sustainability. At GlobalGiving we work with partner organisations to provide access to skills that our partners need to thrive. Route to Good and the partnership with Dentsu Aegis Network helps us do this.”

Mark Clark, CEO of Generations For Peace, noted: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this “Top-Ranked – Superstar” status and selected by GlobalGiving for this opportunity, and we look forward to demonstrating what we have learned through this partnership over the coming years! As a volunteer-driven organisation, we are especially thankful for the time of these two Dentsu Aegis Network employees volunteering their time towards our efforts to continue to grow Generations For Peace.”

NOTES TO EDITORS:

About Generations For Peace Generations For Peace (GFP) is a Jordan-based global non-profit organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein and Sarah Kabbani, dedicated to sustainable peace building and conflict transformation through sport, arts, advocacy, dialogue and empowerment.

By providing unique training and continuous support and mentoring to volunteer leaders of youth, GFP empowers them to lead and cascade change in their communities, promoting active tolerance and responsible citizenship and working at the grass roots to address local issues of conflict and violence.

Different contexts include inter-tribal, inter-ethnic, and inter-religious violence; gender inequality; post-conflict trauma response, reconciliation and reintegration; exclusion of minorities including IDPs, refugees and people with a disability; and challenges of integration in multi-cultural societies. Conflict sensitivity, and the full participation and empowerment of girls and women, are integrated into GFP’s approach.

GFP uses sport as an entry point to engage with children and youth, and our carefully-facilitated sport-based games provide a vehicle for integrated education and behaviour change. In addition to our sport-based approaches, GFP has also developed arts, advocacy, dialogue, and empowerment activities to support conflict transformation with children, youth and adults in different contexts.

In the last eight years, we have trained and mentored more than 8,920 volunteer leaders of youth in 50 countries and territories in the , Africa, Asia, and Europe. With our support, their ongoing programmes address local issues of conflict and violence, and have touched the lives of more than 229,020 children, youth and adults.

GFP is ranked 32nd in the “Top 500 NGOs in the World” for 2015 by Global Geneva. The ranking assesses non-governmental organisations according to innovation, impact, and sustainability.

GFP is also the only peace-through-sport organisation officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
