This launch took place on Thursday llth March in Mayfield GAA Club and was attended by representatives of the many groups in the Mayfield Area who are included in the comprehensive directory. The Directory was produced by Mayfield CDP in partnership with the Citizens Information Service who provided a grant to cover the production costs. Special acknowledgement was given to John Beausang the manager of Cork Citizens’s information Service for his support during the editing and final production. Research for the directory was carried out by Laura Ray McKinlay during her student placement with the CDP and the cover was designed by local girl Lisa Kiniry. Noreen welcomed the Lord Mayor and said it was a great privilege to welcome a Lord Mayor from the Mayfield area and she congratulated him on the excellent job he and his wife were doing for Cork. In turn the Lord Mayor congratulated everyone involved in the production of the directory and he commented on all the supports and groups that are working to make Mayfield such a vibrant area and a great place to live. Following the formalities those present all enjoyed food and danced to the music of local musician Con Twomey. Copies of the directory are available free of charge from Mayfield CDP 328 Old Youghal Road, St. Joseph’s Community Centre, Mayfield Library, and other venues. Be sure to pick up your copy! What are some of the aims of Neighbourhood Watch? To improve community safety To prevent crime To develop Gardai and community links To increase public confidence in An Gardai Síochána To foster a caring environment for older and vulnerable people To reduce anti-social behaviour, including graffiti and harassment.
