Honoring its roots, the four Highlands Lating School Houses are named for the Patron Saints of the British Isles: George (Patron Saint of England) Patrick (Patron Saint of Ireland) Andrew (Patron Saint of Scotland) David (Patron Saint of Wales)

In 7th grade students are assigned to Houses in which they remain throughout their HLS education. The Houses compete in five areas: Academics, Athletics, Arts, Service, and Spirit. Houses earn points and aspire to prevail as the House Champion at the Closing School Ceremony. The House community is a natural breeding ground for encouragement, personal growth, and social connectedness. Each House offers five leadership positions—Head of House, Minister of Culture, Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Scribe—for which students apply, and are elected by administrators. As well, other leadership opportunities are voted on within each House. The House System is a distinguished tradition that serves both student and school by encouraging excellence and knitting the students to the culture of the school, increasing both appreciation for and loyalty to community and peers.
