Julius Friedman’s generous bequest at the turn of the last century enabled the establishment of the current Jewish Home, by providing the land as well as a portion of the costs for building and furnishing a new facility. Friedman’s gift created a momentum that has carried the Home to the forefront of long-term care and research.

Many people are inspired by the same thoughtfulness that motivated Friedman and have included the

Home in their will or other estate plans. Through their support and dedication, our benefactors shape the Legacy Leaders Jewish Home’s future, ensuring that it will continue to be home for all of those who need it.

Lola Gambucci is a study in numbers. Her age numbers 91. The number of years she has lived in her house in the neighborhood of the Jewish Home adds up to more than 50. And, according to the record book she keeps, the number of lap blankets she crocheted in just the first half of the year equaled 246. Mrs. Gambucci is an example of an individual who, although she cannot contribute monetarily, gives her services, purchasing skeins of wool and crocheting hundreds ners of lap blankets, fashioning warm wraps that run from muted t pastels to brightly colored creations. “The men like the

bright ones,” she notes. ar Lola has been making lap blankets for so many years that she remembers when a ball of wool cost pennies and a crochet hook but 15 cents. “One day I decided to take a Aging Services of California Hands On Bay Area Peninsula Jewish Community Center y p
