GRANT nOctober 18 is the deadline for preliminary applications to the Comprehensive Program of OPPORTUNITY the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. The federally fundedprogram solicits proposals aimed at "encouraging reform, innovation, and improvement of postsecondary education and providing equal educational opportunity for all." If he is successful in his bid for that office, another Executive Committee position will become vacant and will be filled by the Representative Assembly. The individual elected to that position will serve from September 1, 1989, through August 31, 1990. The Representative Assembly may also need to elect at-large NEA directors representing ethnic minorities, administrators, classroom teachers in higher education, and Active members employed in educational support positions pursuant to Article V, Section 1 (c), (d), (e), and (f) of the Constitution.
