茨城大学は、1949 年に水戸高等学校、茨城師範学校、 茨城青年師範学校及び多賀工業専門学校を母体として、新 制大学として発足しました。 茨城大学は水戸・日立・阿見の三つのキャンパスから成 り、五つの学部、四つの大学院研究科、および一つの専攻 科を擁しています。三つのキャンパスは、いずれも首都圏 北部の茨城県に所在しています。2009 年 4 月現在、260 人の留学生を含む、7,500 人の学部学生と 1,100 人の大学 院生が、茨城大学に所属し、勉学に励んでいます。（人数 は概数）

Ibaraki University is a national university established in 1949 under the postwar education system, integrating four existing institutions – Mito College, Ibaraki School of Education, Ibaraki School of Youth Education, and Taga Institute of Technology. The University has 5 colleges, 4 graduate programs, and 1 diploma program in three campuses (Mito, Hitachi, and Ami). The three campuses are all located in the Ibaraki Prefecture, which forms part of the National Capital Region. As of April 2009, approximately 7,500 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students, among whom 260 are from abroad, are studying at Ibaraki University.

The International Student Center (ISC) serves the international student community at Ibaraki University by offering educational programs on the Japanese culture and language, counseling services, and cultural activities. It also serves as an informational outlet for Japanese students wishing to study abroad, and aims to broaden international ties between Japan and the world together in cooperation with other universities, corporations, public organizations and international organizations.

Counseling and Tutoring The ISC offers advice and counseling services for international students with academic and personal concerns.

Cross-Cultural Exchange The ISC organizes various programs to promote understanding and friendship between international students, Japanese students, and local citizens. It also offers a wide range of services to help international students live a pleasant campus life, including a yearly orientation meeting, field trips, and tutors (student helpers).
