Participation in the shipping costs for France by Chronopost: 40 €, for other countries, please ask for a quotation ... *********** Aernout van der Neer (or Aert or Artus), born in (South ) in 1603 or 1604 and died in on November 9, 1677, is a landscape painter of the , specialist in winter landscapes and nocturnal landscapes. He is the father of the painter . Little is known about the life of Van der Neer. In Amsterdam, he was in contact with the painters Raphael and Jochem Govertsz. He married the sister of Camphuysen (1601-1659) Lysbeth Van der Neer in 1629. His son Eglon, who also practiced the same trade as his father, was born around 1635 and 1636. His other children were Gretel (1629) , Cornelia (1642), Elisabeth (1645), Pieter (1648) and Alida (1650). His grandson, was, like his father and grandfather, a painter. Van der Neer had difficulty in meeting his needs with his paintings which had little value. To supplement his income, Van der Neer opened the De Graeff van Hollant tavern on the Kalverstraat in 1659, before closing in 1662 for bankruptcy.
