It’s no secret: if you’re in business, you need to be social. And we don’t just mean networking and events (although they’re super important) – we mean being social on social media.

It doesn’t need to be overwhelming though and Peninsula Life caught up with marketing specialist Kirsty Fields from Social Ocean who shares with business owners her best tips to reaping the rewards of social media.

"Social media is a foundation of business marketing. We use it to communicate, promote, engage and build relationships with our customers. The trick is that it’s all in the name – social media. It’s meant to be social: fun, entertaining, engaging and interactive. So how can you be these things with a business? It will look different in your business to another regardless of your niche or industry. The good news is that finding the balance to be social, whilst using it with a holistic approach to marketing doesn’t have to be confronting, confusing or pushed into the ‘too hard’ basket. Use my top tips (right) to find the sweet spot of your branding with a social tone that your audience will be attracted to, whilst driving traffic to your website."

It’s no secret, getting social has serious benefits. It can boost your brain, help you live longer, build a stronger immune system, support your mental health, and can even lower the risk of certain illness.

It is for this reason and many others, that Trudy Moala, Principal of Grace Lutheran Primary School, holds a strong focus on positive, social interactions within her school community. Most recently, this took the form of a staff wellbeing day. Read on to find out how Grace Lutheran Primary School facilitates overall wellness, and how you may be able to implement these strategies in your own workplace or family.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF STAFF AND STUDENT WELLBEING AT GRACE LUTHERAN PRIMARY SCHOOL At Grace Lutheran Primary School, the community’s wellbeing is a strong focus. Alongside programs for students which help develop them socially and emotionally and a parent representative program which connects families in the school, there is also a program for staff to ensure that their workplace is community-focused and positive. Driven by a wellbeing committee, Grace Lutheran Primary School (Grace) focuses at all times on their policy statement, which was developed to incorporate six internationally recognised dimensions of wellness, tailored to agree with the school community’s culture.

The six dimensions of staff wellness at Grace are: 1. Community 2. Vocation 3. Spiritual 4. Physical 5. Growth 6. Emotional and Mental Health

ONLINE FITNESS WORKOUTS It’s everywhere these days. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other websites. Online workout videos are where my health and fitness journey started ten years ago in the comfort of my own lounge room. I wasn't ready for the gym and found comfort in doing 15 minutes of aerobic DVDs a day at home. I saw amazing results and fast forward ten years later, I am an aerobic choreographer who has lost nearly half of my body size, changed my health conditions and found a love for other movement that I once feared. If I am feeling flat or travelling, I still love turning to social media for inspiration.

WHAT IS THE HAYS INLET ECO-PATH? The western edge of the Redcliffe Peninsula is characterised by rare saltmarsh habitat (along with mangroves) which provide habitat for wildlife and important species of fish and crustaceans. In the past, access to these areas has been difficult, however, the Eco-Path now provides access and educational opportunities to general members of the community and visitors to the Peninsula. With completion of the first stage, visitors will be able to access the area from Silcock Street and use the pathway to observe one of the last remaining areas of Melaleuca forest on the Redcliffe Peninsula. As well as creating access for the public, the path will also mean that organisations can restore the remaining habitat areas to ensure they remain a suitable home for koalas, kangaroos, the 125 species of birds identified in the area, and the delicate wetland habitat so important for maintaining water quality and our local fisheries.

WHY PRINT IS THE PERFECT CHOICE? Ever heard the saying ‘print is dead’? Whoever said this obviously was trying to push their online product as print has never been more perfect, especially when you leverage the combination and power of print with digital to create the most awareness and revenue possible. Here are the top reasons why print is perfect for your next business goal: • Printed items hang around homes for weeks – not for just seconds as with social media advertising. • When your audience is reading printed advertising material, they are usually not multi-tasking, but using this time as a well-earned opportunity to relax and read through information that is important and interests them. • People are interrupted many times a day by social media advertising and even email blasts at inconvenient times throughout a day – and night! Printed marketing and advertising collateral allows your audience to choose when and where they engage. • Print can drive traffic to digital! Utilise QR codes to drive traffic to your website or DID YOU KNOW? YouTube channel. THE PORTRAIT: A SIT DOWN WITH HAYDN THE SNAPSHOT JAVIS, THE MAN BEHIND THE LENS AT ANGELICO JARVIS PHOTOGRAPHY On why he became a photographer specialising in family, wedding, event and product photography: “I enjoyed working with different families from all walks of life and wanted to offer a photography service that anyone could afford over and over again” “I love offering a product that brings a family true happiness, capturing something that is cherished over the years and immortalises a special moment in someone’s life.” What has made Angelico Jarvis Photograph such a stand-out photography studio? “Aside from our quality, we are an affordable photography studio, with our prices being 95% lower than the recommended industry average per image for a professional photographic studio.” “We also specialise in the posing, settling and modelling of newborns with the inclusion of pets! Can you explain your animal and newborn photography a bit further? “We all love our families and most of my clients have fur-babies before taking the leap into parenthood. We recognise this is a special bond and one the children will grow up to cherish and reflect on in years to come.”

“The decision to introduce this connection into our newborn sessions was an easy one! Regardless of the extra training, time and patience it requires we always insist on bringing the whole family to a session.” “Setting up these images takes patience and precaution, so we spend hours setting up for these special portraits to make sure our workspace is as calm, warm and comfortable as possible.” GET IN TOUCH “Our Redcliffe studio boasts an impressive 100sqm Want to get in touch with to speak more open space with plenty of room for your pets to run free about their photography?
