22 INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC WORKS ENGINEERING AUSTRALASIA, QUEENSLAND | ANNUAL REPORT 2019 Financial Statements

Income & Profitability 24 Statement of Profit or Loss 25 Statement of Financial Position 26 Statement of Cash Flows 27 Board Members’ Declaration 28

General information These consolidated financial statements for the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland (the Institute) include the following three entities: 1. The Institute as an individual entity 2. The Queensland Water Directorate (qldwater), a business registered by the Institute 3. The IPWEA Queensland Foundation, a trust established by the Institute on behalf of members. Please refer to the Financial Report for the full report.

Changes to Standards and Reporting for Charities Prior to 2018, the financial statements, Notes and Auditor’s Report were published in the Annual Report however changes to Auditing Standards (ASA 720) affected how we present the financial statements going forward. Best practice is now to separate these two documents, as adopted by leading firms (KPMG and Deloittes) and charities (Mission Australia, Barnados). Making any reference in the Auditor’s Report to the Annual Report would require the auditor to read the entire publication with professional fees incurred. For a NFP and charity in today’s modern regulatory framework, it is prudent to avoid unnecessary expenditure. Leigh Cunningham Chief Executive Officer
