The first thing I would like to say is THANK YOU to our Board of Directors. Trying to run our Club during this pandemic has been a lot more work, but with all the help and support of eve- ry person on the board, going above and beyond their previously established duties, we are moving ahead. I would also like to thank Brian Reed and all the employees of Simi Hills Golf Course. The board has been meet- ing via Zoom and with Brian’s input of the course’s needs, together with our tournament requirements, we have come up with a compromise that we think works well for all. I would also like to thank all the members that have played in our last couple tournaments who followed our rules and guidelines to make our tournaments look as stealthy as possible. Our main goal right now is to have tournaments that don’t look like tournaments, so thank you for your cooperation. Things are moving right along as our state is starting to open back up. We have golf that is becoming more and more like the way we have always played it. I just had my first pandemic haircut, as barber shops just opened and did I need that!! We also had dinner in a restaurant for the first-time last week since the lock down. Things are looking up for sure and we are thankful and hopeful for the future and that life will get back to “normal”.

SCGA is moving ahead as the Playoffs for Team Play will start back up in July. Since we already won our first match, we are looking at early August for our next match to take place. We are still working on our schedule to tweak things and to makeup a couple tournaments that we have had to postpone. One new change this year because of coronavirus is that we will not use a bus for transportation for our annual Bus Trip. We will instead have a Zoom Meeting a couple days before or possibly the night before to do the Calcutta. We will use Venmo to collect and distribute all the winnings for the Calcutta. Skins and CTP’s will all be included in the price which will be less as we are not paying for a bus. You will be able to pay online when you signup or at the tournament as we have been doing lately. Things are changing and the future is looking brighter, but we still need to be cautious as we move forward. As we all know, this situation is constantly changing which will require our Club to be flexible in order to comply with new regulations as they are handed down in the future. We are doing our best to navigate this so please bear with us as we move through these challenging times. Always take precautions and protect yourself and your loved ones. Remember that a relapse could shut down our economy again at any time. Let’s be healthy and safe.

The first game back after our relatively brief (by pandemic standards) break from golf. I’m sure the stories of confinement are substantial, what with being around people you haven’t had to be around so much before. If you ever wondered if ‘she’ or ‘he’ is the “one” you probably have a better idea now. Paul Simon said in ‘Darling Lorraine’ “What, you don't like the way I chew? “ (Over confinement) The golf course limited the field in this tournament to just 32. Still it sure was good getting back even with the new order of things. Nabih Koury played well and took both Gross and Net in the “A” flight. Since you can only win one or the oth- er, Asheesh Danee took first place net with his 70. The “B” flight honors were given to Eric Karensky who carded a 79 Gross. That gave 1st place net to Mark Por- ter with a 73. Mark won a card off with Darren Atkin- son. Darren has the second place net prize.

A linguistics professor says during a lecture: “In English, a double neg- ative forms a positive. But in some languages, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, in no language in the world can a double positive form a negative.”

But then a voice from the back of the room pipes up, “Yeah, right.”
