Wengen, 6.10.2011jz/ml Press release

Added value in rail transport

The ski region with the Jungfrau railways and the organising committee of the races will provide considerable added value in rail services for spectators at the coming 82th international Lauberhorn races from 13 to 15 January 2012.

The new dual track of the railway between and Allmend makes possible more departure times on race days. This produces new opportunities to cross trains. Departure times can be better preserved, meaning fewer delays.

Admission tickets for pedestrians

Admission tickets to the races include a new train journey from Interlaken Ost via to Wengen, Wengernalp and as well as across via Kleine Scheidegg. Pedestrians can also use the chairlift Innerwengen with the new admission tickets. People who are entitled to half-fares or rail passes are given a corresponding reduction. The new regulation also applies to stand tickets and VIP products Hospitality Restaurant Girmschbiel, Sky Lounge and Gold Card.

You can find price examples at www.lauberhorn.ch and www.jungfrau.ch/winter .

Admission fees for winter athletes

For winter athletes the admission fee for the races is also included in the Grindelwald-Wengen or Jungfrau sports pass, which is valid from three days.

If you have a 1 or 2 day sports pass you also need an admission ticket to the Lauberhorn races. Possession of this additional ticket gives winter sport guests access to super-combined and downhill races on the corresponding race days. Without additional tickets winter sport guests with a 1 or 2 day sports pass will not have access to the races and the chairlifts Lauberhorn and Wixi cannot be used.

We help up and coming skiers

Before the traditional Word Cup week with its attractive super-combined – two races on one day with the world's best ski races, the longest World Cup downhill run on Saturday and the spectacular slalom on Sunday – the organising committee Wengen will arrange two FIS super-Gs on 6 and 7 January 2012.

The 82 th Lauberhorn race has a makeover!

The website of the Lauberhorn races has a new image. Navigation has been made even more user friendly and directs the visitor in a simpler way through the lauberhorn.ch platform for the ski Word Cup races in Wengen. The redesigned webshop allows customers to order VIP products and pay with credit cards. Visitors also receive comprehensive information on current mega events in the and the historical background to the international Lauberhorn races.

SF zwei and HD suisse broadcast the Lauberhorn races and the presentation ceremonies and start numbers draw. On DRS3 the sports radio also reports live on ski classics and produces feature articles. For online users the website www.sport.srf.ch provides information and livestreams.

On Friday 13.01.2012 record release by Natascha

The famous singer Natascha chose Wengen and our World Cup village for the release of her new album „Glücksbringer“. She will also present her new single „ Startklar “ before the Lauberhorn downhill draw.

Presale start stand tickets by starticket.ch on 1.10.2011

The finish stand allows our spectators at the Word Cup Arena Innerwengen to be at the centre of the race events. Only a few meters from the ski stars of the alpine ski World Cup, 2,300 people can follow race events. Stand tickets can be comfortably printed at the www.starticket.ch platform and after electronic registration the printouts can be exchanged for admission tickets in Wengen.

Betting on the Lauberhorn: Partnership with Swisslos and Loterie Romande

For this season the organisation SwissTopSport also maintains a partnership with the lottery companies Swisslos and Loterie Romande. This allows racegoers in Wengen to benefit onsite from the opportunity to bet on the international Lauberhorn races, which makes it all the more exciting. The takings from „Sporttip“ goes entirely to sports in (around 129 million francs in 2010). The organisers welcome communication support from the media.
