Mr N. Ramachandran

A keen sportsman, his experience in sports administration includes a spell as Secretary General of the Rackets Federation of India, where he was instrumental in popularising the sport all over the country.

Mr. Ramachandran is actively associated with several sports organizations. In his capacity as President of the Indian Triathlon Federation, Mr. Ramachandran pioneered, promoted and popularized the comparatively new and grueling sport of Triathlon in India.

In addition, Mr. Ramachandran is also the Treasurer of the Indian Olympic Association, as well as the Vice President of the Tamil Nadu Olympic Association and a former Vice President of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

Outside of sports, Mr. Ramachandran was, until retirement, an Executive Director of India Cements Limited, the largest manufacturer of cement in South India with interests in Sugar, Shipping, Power, and Trading & Finance. He remains the Promoter Chairman of Results Investments Private Limited, which has interests in Shipping, Oil, Gas and Power sectors.

Mr. Ramachandran is also the Former President of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), which is the Premier Business Chamber in Chennai.

He has been a Deputy President of The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India in the past, but remains on the Executive Committee. Lastly, Mr. Ramachandran is the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Chennai, serving the Consular Districts of Tamilnadu and Kerala.

Mr. N. Ramachandran is actively involved in promoting the cause of education. He is one of the trustees of the India Cements Educational Trust, which manages the Sankar Institute of Polytechnic at Sankar Nagar, Tirunelveli, and is the Vice President of the India Cements Educational Society, which has promoted the T.S. Narayanaswamy College of Arts and Science at Navalur, Chennai. Similarly, when he was Secretary General of the Squash Rackets Federation of India he was instrumental in making Chennai the “Squash Capital” of India and taking the sport to new heights of excellence.

In 2001 he was elected as the President of the and was re-elected to this position in 2005.

Mr. Ramachandran was appointed as an Associate Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association in 2001 and elected a Vice-President in 2005.

In 2007 he was appointed as an Executive Committee Member of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

He is a member of the Audit Committee for the Delhi 2010. He is also a member of the Executive Board for the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. In 2008 Mr Ramachandran was elected as President of the World Squash Federation. In 2009 He was appointed as Patron of both the Asian Squash Federation and the Squash Rackets Federation of India. In 2009 Mr Ramachandran was appointed as Vice President of the Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu by the Tamil Nadu Government.

He is the Hon.Consul for the Government of Latvia with jurisdiction for the States of Tamilnadu and Kerala. At the WSF AGM in 2012, Mr Ramachandran was re-elected as WSF President for a further four years.
