Head Coach Bryan Chud Coach Chud Year by Year Coach Bryan Chud took the helm of the women’s Year W-L-T soccer program in 2016 and Northwest University 2019 13-6 and became the program’s all-time leader in coach- 2018 7-3-2 ing wins in 2019. He has taken the Eagles to the 2017 11-10 postseason every season and to the national post- 2016 15-6-2 Career 52-31-4 season in three of his four seasons.

His fi rst team in 2016 reached the NAIA National Semifi nals. He followed that up with an Opening Round appearance and in 2018 guided the Eagles back to the fi nal site and a successful season that culminated in the NAIA National Quarterfi nals.

On the conference level, Chud’s teams have peaked at the right time. His 2018 squad won the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament, 1-0, over Eastern Oregon, after reaching the fi nals in 2016 and 2017.

Chud, who also is the assistant athletics director at NU, returned to his alma mater as assistant men’s soccer coach in 2015 and stayed at that position until 2017.

Northwest fi nished fi fth in the NAIA fi nal poll in 2016, received votes in the last poll in 2017 and ranked 15th in the 2018 postseason poll.

Coach Chud is a 2002 graduate of Northwest University earning a degree in history and was a three-time team captain of the Eagle men’s soccer team from 1999 to 2002, earning both regional and national recognition. He owns the school record in career goals scored and was inducted into the NU Eagle Hall of Fame in March, 2015. He earned NAIA All-America hon- orable mention and was his team’s 2002 Champions of Character Award winner.

Chud was born and raised in Alaska, but his career in soccer has taken him all over the world. After graduating from high school, he moved to Europe playing at a high level in Germany and England for three years. He then returned to the U.S. and enrolled at Northwest U.

Following his graduation from Northwest U, Bryan and his wife Breanna moved to Dungannon, North Ireland, where he played for the Irish Premier League for 10 years with Ambassadors FC. While with AFC, he was the all-time leading goal-scorer while garnering four Promotions, three Player’ Player of the Year awards and helping the squad to the Mid-Ul- ster Cup Championship in 2012.

While in Northern Ireland, he served six years as a youth pastor and was also instrumental in establishing the charity, Ambassadors in Sport and his involvement with the Ambassadors allowed him to travel to Africa—Sudan, Senegal, Mozam- bique and South Africa as a player and coach.

Coach Chud has earned his Level 1 and Level 2 coaching licenses from the Irish Football Association and recently received his UEFA B Part 1 license.

After 12 years in Northern Ireland, Bryan and his wife Breanna, along with their twin sons, Kidran and Cohen, moved back to the Pacifi c Northwest. The family attends Bellevue Presbyterian Church.

Chud enjoys skiing, music (guitar/drums), family time, hiking, cliff diving, adrenaline adventure and traveling. NU Women’s Soccer 2020-21

Assistant Coach Brendon Wheeler

Brendon Wheeler returned to his alma mater and joined Bryan Chud’s women’s soccer staff at Northwest in 2016. Wheeler coached two seasons as an assistant at Snohomish High School, helping his hometown team to a pair of 4A State Titles. He capped a stellar playing career with the Eagle Men’s Soccer program with a degree in business administration in 2016. Wheeler was an All-Cascade Conference player and scholar-athlete. He played in 67 games during his NU career. In 2015, Wheeler was named to the fi rst team, All-Cascade Conference team as a defender and was named CCC Defender of the Week during the season. He also earned academic honors as a CCC Scholar-Athlete that same year. He also earned Freshman of the Year honors for NU. Brendon is married to Ashton Wheeler who played two years of volleyball at Northwest U and two seasons for Biola Uni- versity (Calif.)

Assistant Coach Makenna Wheeler

Makenna Wheeler returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach at Northwest for the 2020-21 season. Wheeler earned All-Conference honors in 2018 when the Eagles won the Cascade Collegiate Con- ference Tournament and reached the NAIA quarterfi nals. Wheeler also played for NU in its national semifi nal season in 2016 and its NAIA Opening Round season in 2017. Wheeler received her bachelor’s degree from NU in elementary education with a humanities en- dorsement in 2019. A native of Snohomish, Wheeler attends Churchome and enjoys skiing, teaching, coffee, art, music, and the great outdoors.

Assistant Coach Kat Sanchez

Kat Sanchez onboarded with the Northwest University women’s soccer staff during the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach. Sanchez played four seasons at NU, earning fi rst-team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference and CCC Defensive Player of the Year. She picked up her bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in psychology. The Arlington native attends Doxa Church and volunteers with Special Olympics, Arlington Assem- bly nursery and kids church, and as a tutor. She enjoys soccer, painting, reading, and hiking and is interested in physical therapy, personal training, and psychology.

Assistant Coach Rylee Rassier

Rylee Rassier joined the staff of Northwest University women’s soccer during the 2020-21 season after a successful career with the Eagles. Rassier, a striker for NU, earned fi rst-team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference and CCC co-Offensive Player of the Year honors.
