Scotland’s largest annual health and care event is back and for the first time will be delivered virtually!

Digital health and care solutions have had a year of rapid scale up and development. Taking time to reflect and learn about how digital solutions in Scotland, and internationally, have grown and been adopted is the focus of this year’s DigiFest.

The DigiFest programme brings together health, housing, voluntary sector and care staff to discuss these developments.

DigiFest2020 includes contributions from Scotland, the wider UK and international colleagues.

18.00 Supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing Digital Mental Health in Scotland has experienced a year of expansion and change. The development of a National Programme, infrastructure developments and new roles have supported ambitions to provide more citizens with the option of digital access to services.

The session will outline these changes and describe how digital mental health treatments work and what they look like. The speakers will provide information about the evidence base and summarise the demand issues around psychological therapies and how digital treatments may provide a high-capacity solution.

9.45 Emergency Eye Care during a pandemic - Snapshot Hear from the NHS Education for Scotland Digital Service team about the work undertaken in response to the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic on Community Optometry Services. NDS has been working with NHS Grampian and NHS Forth Valley on the ‘Eyecare’ product – an open-source electronic patient record (EPR) for ophthalmology called ‘Openeyes’ to enable virtual consultations with patients and to share the information between optometrists and ophthalmologists.

This session, organised by researchers at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, will showcase recent developments in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and discuss the role of living laboratories and co-design in the context of health and social care applications.

The role and potential of using robots to support health and wellbeing has (like many areas of digital health) received additional attention and expectation during 2020. In this invitation only event the finalist teams will pitch their digital health and care ideas to our panel of judges before an overall winner is announced.

Proactive Telecare Learning Collaborative Wednesday 9 December

Digital Inclusion and Social Care Friday 11 December

A discussion session for Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland (CCPS) members. Taking place on Friday the 11th from 10.00 am- 11.30 am. The use of digital technology in our sector has been fundamental to ensuring the people we work with have continuity of support where possible. However, a reliance on digital also has the potential to increase inequality. This session will give CCPS members the opportunity to explore the problem of digital exclusion and discuss what else needs to happen to promote digital inclusion in a social care context.
