LIMITED-TIME PROMOTION BRINGS COUNT CHOCULA TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES THIS HALLOWEEN

MINNEAPOLIS (June 14, 2012) – Leveraging the popularity of Halloween among college students, General Mill Foodservice is making its classic Count Chocula cereal available to campus dining halls for the first time this fall. Operators who purchase Count Chocula during this limited time offer will receive a complete promotional kit with Count Chocula posters, table tents, custom-sized napkin holder inserts, and Halloween-themed promotional ideas to generate student interest and excitement.

This limited-time promotion provides a fun way for operators to bring excitement to their dining halls leading up to Halloween with a favorite cereal brand among students. Operators are encouraged to act fast to secure their orders, as Count Chocula will be available in limited quantities on a first-come, first-served basis.

“A nostalgic favorite among college students who don’t always get to enjoy Count Chocula in the dining hall, this limited time offering of Count Chocula will remind students of their favorite Halloween memories, reward their meal plan participation, and give operators the opportunity to create the perfect ‘trick and treat’ as Halloween approaches,” said Sean Roberts, marketing manager, General Mills Foodservice. “Count Chocula is a great way for operators to help students celebrate the season.”

Count Chocula debuted in 1971 as the first chocolate-flavored cereal with chocolate-flavored marshmallow bits and today is the most popular of General Mills “monster” cereal line-up which also includes Booberry and Frankenberry cereals. Seventy-five percent of General Mills monster cereals are sold in September and October leading up to Halloween1, and 18-24 year olds are three times more likely to enjoy monster cereal than the rest of the population.2
