COVID -19 SEVA KARYA REPORT

11TH APRIL TO 22ND MAY 2020

Since the end of March 2020, our country is reeling under the Coronavirus outbreak. With nationwide lockdown and social distancing to help reduce the spread of the virus among the general population, citizens are facing multitude of problems. Vidya Bharati’s alumni, schools and teachers have been working tirelessly across during this time of distress and helping those in need.

Few of such instances has been highlighted below:

I. Pranta :

Food made for the families of laborers who are unemployed due to the shutdown because of Coronavirus by Haryana Vidya Mandir Sdhora.

Vidya Bharati alumni Kamal Bajaj distributed cooked food to the needy during the day and taught maths during the night through YouTube to students so that they do not fall back during the lock down period.

Vidya Bharati School Nand Lal Gita Vidya Mandir, Tepla, Haryana prepared and distributed 700 meals during the lock down.

Ration distributed to the needy people by Nand Lal Geeta Vidha Mandir Tepla Ambala.

Vidya Bharati School, Nand Lal Gita Vidya Mandir, Tepla honored bank employees and civil hospital employees for their services during Covid 19 pandemic.

Face masks were distributed by ‘Prachar Vibhag’, Haryana (Publicity Department) of Vidya Bharati Haryana to the needy migrant laborers.

Parents and alumni of Haryana School, Gita Co-Edu Middle School, Chotta Bazar, Thanesar reached out to the needy people by making masks.

Vidya Bharati alumni donated Rs. 36 lakh in Relief Fund to fight against Covid 19 pandemic.

Former student Kamal Bajaj of Shiksha Bharti School, J.P Colony, Rohtak, went to the hospital to get his 68-year-old teacher who stays alone for Covid 19 test.

II. Pranta :

Teacher of Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir, Dera Bassi donated 500 masks to people in need.

Amrit Shehbaz alumnus of Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir Jaitu, counsels COVID-19 patients and people staying in shelter homes. He works as a Psychologist in Civil Hospital Moga.

A teacher of Vidya Bharati School, Shri Hajari Lal Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir, Ramdarbar Chandigarh distributed handmade masks in Chandigarh.

Students and Teachers of Madhav Vidya Niketan Senior Secondary School Amritsar, prepared face masks for distribution among general public.

'Mask Banao Abhiyan', was organized by Punjab School Baba Sehaj Nath Svm Begowal Taragarh-Pathankot, in which the parents, teachers and students participated to prepare more than 500 face masks.

School management of Prem Sarita Sarvhitkari Model School, Maloya Chandigarh sanitized entire school to reduce spread of Covid 19 virus in the neighborhood.

Chairman of Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir CBSE Bhikhi, sanitized his school and other schools in his area along with help of local administration.

III. Pranta :

A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was arranged on 29-04-2020 in Lalit Mahajan SVM School Vasant Vihar, New Delhi to provide emergency blood to hospitals during lock down.

Students of Lalit Mahajan S.V.M Sr. Sec School participated in creative mask making contest and won cash prize which they donated to The PM care fund.

IV. Meerut Pranta :

NCC students of Meerut school organized public awareness campaigns related to pandemic and distributed face masks.

V. Braj Pranta :

Free Food and grocery were distributed by Shrinath Garg and alumni of Shri ji Baba Sraswati Vidhya Mandir, Mathura.

Rs.2100/- donated in PM cares fund, along with providing vegetables and daily grocery to people in need

VI. Uttar Pranta :

200 families receive food from Assam school, Shankardev Shishu Niketan, North Guwahati in Kamrup during ongoing lockdown.

Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Beltola, distributed food items among 100 families in the South Salmara Mankachar district of Assam.

VII. Pranta :

Vidya Bharati teachers provided with groceries in Kerala during lockdown by .

Kerala school Harisree Vidyalayam Kudamkuzhy, via. Chengala, distributed necessary groceries during lock down.

Vidya Bharati student from Kerala, M Gouri Laksmi of Vivekananda Vidyalayam English Medium High School, Muvattupuzha, shared video regarding prevention of Covid 19 to raise awareness about the virus.

Vidya Bharati College distributed food during Covid 19 pandemic.

Artisans in villages near Jamshedpur were provided with essential items during lockdown. 26 such families were covered by Vyasa Vidya Peethom, Palakkad, Kerala alumnus, Sreeram Mohan.

300 Kg vegetables were distributed by alumni of Kerala School, Vyasa Vidyapeedom Parambil Bazar, Parambil, Kozhikode, during lock down.

VIII. Uttar Pranta :

Vidya Bharati volunteers from Thiruvallur district distributed essential grocery to 13 disabled families at Poonamallee and Thiruvottiyur district.

IX. Chittorgarh Pranta :

525 food packets were distributed to the needy during the lock down by alumni members in Dhikol village and Bora- Mangri village of Rajasthan.

800 masks, 110 soaps, 20 towels and 10 Sanitizers distributed by alumni members in Badisadi district of Rajasthan Chittorgarh pranta.

X. Jaipur Pranta :

5100/- rupees donated to PM Cares fund and one family adopted and provided with ration for the duration of lockdown by alumnus Pavan Kumar Sharma of Adarsh Vidya Mandir Secondary school Tijara.

XI. Jodhpur Pranta :

School staff of M. Shantilal Mehata Saraswati Vidya Niketan, Taigor Nagar Pali, Rajasthan donated 8400 rupees to Seva Bharati to help needy people during corona epidemic.

XII. Madhya Bharat Pranta :

Alumni of Sarswati Shishu Mandir Talaiya Vidisha and 'Rashtriya Bal Sanrakshan Aayog Rashtriya Adhyaksh’, Shri Priyank Kanungo, provided 1000 Personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to heath workers to protect them from COVID 19 pandemic.

Vidya Bharati alumni of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Saraswati Nagar Kotra, Shri Amol Kamdar donated 50,000 in PM Care Fund to assist the government in its fight against COVID- 19 pandemic.

Shri Rishi Kumar Pandey, the principal Sarswati Shishu Mandir, Balaji Nagar Datia, distributed ayurvedic and allopathic medicines in the village.

Teachers, students, alumni and parents of S.V.M Sen. Sec. Sarni came together to distribute 1000 face masks.

Teachers, Alumni and Workers of Vidya Bharati schools of Madhya Bharat Kshetra are working relentlessly during the time of crisis. The have distributed over rations to over 18000 people.

Schools of Madhya Bharat Pranta served food to 67060 homes, distributed over 60000 masks, ration to over 18000 people, and organized corona awareness programs in over 1400 villages as their continuous service work.

Dr. Sanjesh Meena, alumni of S.V.M Sharda Vihar Bhopal and S.V.M Bharat Bharti, Betul joined duty of treating patients 14 days after giving birth to a son.

Lokendra Singh Thakur and alumni members continuously took stock and supplied daily grocery to people in need.

200 masks were distributed free in the Seva Basti and ration distribution was done through Sanskar Kendra by alumnus Anil Pawar of S V M Timarni.

Alumnus Sanjay Tiwari of Saraswati Vidhya mandir, Bhopal works in health dept. of state government to keep track of old Covid 19 cases and assists in new sampling process.

Alumnus of Shiva Soni of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Sharda Vihar Bhopal , helped to distribute raw ration to 1500 poor, helpless families in Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and various streets were sanitized.

Santosh Sharma, alumni of Sarswati Shishu Mandir Talaiya Vidisha, is distributed food to the needy and also made his number public asking those in need of food to contact him.

XIII. Malwa Pranta :

Due to the crisis of Corona virus Vidya Bharati Bhavrao Devras Sewa Nyas focused on growing local vegetables in villages to meet shortage during lockdown.

Vidya Bharati provided online training to teachers in rural areas so that they can use technology to teach students online during the lockdown.

During lock down students, alumni and staff members of the Sarswati Shishu Mandir, Bamora, helped to distribute 400 packets of food daily to the people in. Ration packets were also sent to several households.

XIV. Maha Koshal Pranta :

A check of Rs. 1 lakh was given to the collector of Satna, Shri Ajay Katesaria ji by alumni of Satna to help the administration to fight against COVID - 19 pandemic.

Approximately 725 masks were distributed in Akhetpur (Dongri Tola) by Vidya Bharati alumni of Saraswati Higher Secondry School, Beohari.

Saraswati Shishu Parishad, Vidya Bharati Mahakoshal province decided to give their school buildings to be used as isolation centers during Covid 19 pandemic. Under this, 4799 rooms of 256 Shishu Mandirs and 1875 toilets, including 240 vehicles were assigned to this service.

Alumni of school, SSM, Motinagar Sagar raised money to pay salary of their teachers.

Vidya Bharati alumni of Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School, Sarra Peepal, Bhagat Singh Ward, Bada Patther, Ranjhi, distributed food grains and groceries to needy residents of Mohania Village in association with Vivekananda Shiksha Samiti.

Maha Koshal school in Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh, Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School, Sarra Peepal, Bhagat Singh Ward, Bada Patther, Ranjhi distributed ayurvedic medicine under supervision of AYUSH representatives along with food to the needy residents during pandemic lockdown.

XV. Uttar Banga Pranta :

Food and relief materials were distributed among 234 poor families using the funds collected from ex-students of Sarada Sishu Teertha, Raiganj.

XVI. Dakshin Banga Pranta :

Alumnus Saptarshi Bhattacharya of Ladhuram Toshniwal Saraswati Sishu Mandir Cossimbajar, Berhampore, distributed 192 Kg rice , 50 Kg dal, 40 Kg potatoes, 20 Kg soya chunks , 200 Sanitizers, 200 mask and essential commodities among the various people of slum areas. An awareness camp was organized while maintaining social distance against COVID-19.

XVI. Pranta :

After seeing people buying low quality masks in higher price which is not efficient to even block the tiny dust particles, alumnus Subrata Kumar Biswal of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Paradeep, with family member and a good tailor made proper protective mask consisting of four layers using surgical clothes and cotton clothes and distributed them among villagers.
