FIghtingfalcons.com Twitter - @fsfalcons last season vs UU -- FSU Rallies Past Urbana, Wins On 45-Yard Field Goal FightingFalcons.com URBANA, Ohio -- Sam Keil’s 45-yard field goal with 1.6 seconds remaining lifted Fairmont State to a 27-24 come-from-behind victory on Saturday af- ternoon at Urbana University Stadium.

The final possession was made possible by a forced fumble from Stephen Turner and Trevon Shorts with 1:17 remaining in the fourth quarter. Fair- mont’s Abu Kai Kai recovered the fumble at the Urbana 24-yard line to give Fairmont State the chance to win in regulation.

With the win, FSU improves to 1-1 overall (1-0 in the Mountain East). Urbana falls to 0-2 both overall and in the league.

The Falcons also got standout performances from the Iweh twins in the vic- tory, as the duo accounted for two of Fairmont’s three touchdowns.

Urbana got on the board first by recording a safety on Fairmont State’s first punt attempt of the afternoon, giving the Blue Knights a 2-0 advantage. Four plays later, Young-Battle found a wide-open Jeff Iweh running down the center of the field, as the pair connected for the game-tying 60-yard touchdown.

Following Fairmont’s fourth forced turnover on the next Urbana possession, with just 1:17 remaining in the game, FSU put the game on the foot of senior place-kicker Sam Keil - who drilled a 45-yard game-clinching field goal.

However, that attempt didn’t come without some drama, as Fairmont State was called for a false start on its original 40-yard field goal attempt.

Fairmont State will now prepare on a short week, as West Virginia Wesleyan visits Duvall-Rosier Field on Thursday evening in the MEC Game of the Week. Kickoff is set for 7:10 p.m.
