NOTES:
1. The pre-war Eastern Command was redesignated as the Eastern Army on the 1942. 2. This Lines of Communication Area was formed circa August 1942. The Headquarters of the Area were based in Patna, but then moved to Ranchi. The Area comprised the Bihar and Orissa districts of eastern India. 3. This brigade was formed at Digboi in September 1942 by the redesignation of the 16th Indian Infantry Brigade, which had fought in the 1942 Burma campaign. It was tasked as a training formation, and was under command of Brigadier W. D. EDWARD, D.S.O.. In late 1942, the brigade moved to Ranchi where it was based in 1944. In October 1945, now under command of Brigadier J. A. SALOMONS, D.S.O., O.B.E., it was sent to re-occupy the Andaman Islands.
