This format outlines the annual reports to be published by all colleges in the Madhya Pradesh on their websites, by October 31st of each year. Part I is intended as a guide and colleges are free to alter the contents and format as they see fit. Part I 1. The Principal’s Report (2 pages)- Highlights the key activities, events, and successes of the past year and briefly describes major new initiatives to be undertaken over the next year.

Govt College Susner started in 1984 in the building of a local Higher Secondary School with a meagre strength of 52 students. In 2006 it was shifted to it’s own new building. Initially only available courses were B.A. & B.Com. In 2013 B.Sc. Bio & B.Sc. Maths courses were also introduced. Susner is a back ward, rural area where even today the people are not aware of the importance of education. Particularly the girls still have to struggle for education in spite of their talent. Under such constraints we aim at providing an educational climate which is congenial for an all round development of the students. Increasing strength of the students with loud able accomplishments in academic, curricular, co-curricular activities have added a feather to the cap of the principal. In order to locate and chisel the talent of the students various opportunities are made available to them by organising debate, oratory, essay, music competitions and sports events as well. We aim to introducing many new courses, such as Graduation with Microbiology, Computer Science and Commerce with Computers. For further expansion we also plan to start our own student’s hostel. Digitalization of college library with the facility of computer, printer and photo copier is also proposed so as to keep the staff and the students abreast expanding and exploding frontiers of knowledge. Due to the dearth of academic, clerical and menial staff, though this development seems to be a distant dream, still we assure a rich harvest if these hurdles could be overcome with the cooperation of the Higher Education Department.

Govt. College, Susner, is in the south Agar-Malwa sub geographical region of Madhya- Pradesh, is about 100 km from Ujjain being the nearest rail head. This college came in to st existence on September 1 , 1984, it caters under graduate programme in humanities and commerce and in the year 2013-14 science (both in Biology and Maths group) also started. The college is affiliated to Vikram University, Ujjain and is governed by the Higher Education department of Madhya-Pradesh. Initially it was functioning in a Govt. Middle School and shifted to it’s new premises in the year 2006. The objective behind establishing a college was keeping in view the traditional out-look of the populace having a low litracey in the region with a pre dominentlly high percentage of rural population. Another reason was the student’s empowerment and to create awareness about social evils and their eradication .

(iii) History of the college with significant milestones

Government College, Susner, was established in response to the dire need of young pillars of the nation, especially of the middle and back ward sections of the society who insisted of academic brilliance had no hope for higher education. The college provides education in all the three faculties – Science, Commerce and Arts. It’s an undergraduate college. Initially it was functioning in a Govt. Middle School near New Bus Stand and shifted to it’s new premises in the year 2006. The college has been striving to cater to the need of the students coming from rural back ground. Most students come from economically and academically weak back ground, but college takes this back ground of the students as a challenge and aims at providing the students with the best education with holistic approach. It grooms the students in to becoming responsible citizens of the Nation. They are taught to be humble and sensitive towards society.

7. The Student Experience (4 pages)

Briefly describes student life in the college: • Infrastructural facilities available to students - Classrooms, Smart classrooms, laboratories and equipment, Common Research Lab, Hostel; Canteen; Garden; Students common room, Auditorium, Sports Complex & other facilities

There are 09 class rooms for B.A. , B.Com. and B.Sc. students. No smart class rooms are there. Poor laboratories and very few equipments. No hostel, no canteen. We are planning to develop a Botanical Garden. There are two common rooms and wash rooms - one for boys and another for girls.

It’s a Government college, we have to go as per government’s rules. Principal as the head care taker of the college and library. As per government’s instructions we have books required for graduation level.

✓ Financial assistance ( scholarships/ schemes for SC/ST/OBC/ minority, Group & Health Insurance Schemes)

All the students of the college are insured by STAR HEALTH insurance Co. Ujjain. Post metric scholarship is granted to SC,ST,OBC students. st 1 class girls students coming from rural areas get financial assistance in the form of Rs. 5000/- under the scheme of Gaon Ki Beti . Girls students travelling a distance of more than 5 K.M. get Rs. 5/- per day under the Government scheme of Awagaman.

✓ Personal enhancement & development schemes- NCC, NSS, Facilities for physically challenged & slow learners; Tutor-Guardian Scheme, Grievance Redressal Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell, Remedial classes, Career Guidance Cell.

Because of lack of permanent-regular staff, we are unable to persue development schemes like NCC, NSS.

We have ramp for physically challenged students.

✓ Extracurricular activities: Calendar of activities (Sports, Youth Festival, cultural and literary events), Achievements, Awards

Youth Festival- College level - First week of September District level - 19th September to 21st September. Sports – College and District level – In the month of September – October Cultural and Literary activities – College should organize these activities in between last . week of February to second week of March. Students take part in almost every activity with the enthusiasm

✓ Major student welfare initiatives over the past year

Academic :- The career guidance cell caters to the needs of the students as regards to the over all development of the mind and the personality. The students are not only benefited academically through regular teaching by the faculty but also through expert lectures. Personal :- Students need to be encouraged and motivated as they come from rural background and lack confidence The faculty takes great pains in boost up the confidence by personal interaction and emotional support.

• Extension Activities

To enhance the critical thinking, creativity and scientific temper among students, group discussions are held in class. Final year students are sent for job oriented project work and are evaluated on the basis of the analytic report they present. Apart from the formal learning, practical learning is ensured through students participation in co-curricular, extra curricular and extension activities where the faculty members and the students interact informal. The college organizes various activities on special days like WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY,HINDI DIWAS, etc. Literary and cultural program are scheduled to develop innovative practice like poster presentation of current events, literature, freedom- fighters. Self employment ( preparation of AGARBATTI making, detergent making, sauce-jam etc).
