Background Sahakarya Nepal Sindhuli; a non-profit making non-governmental organization is a community based social organization, which was established in 10 October 2004 (2061 Ashwin 24). This organization was organized to fight against the deep-rooted social problems as illiteracy, traditional behavior, superstitious thinking, unemployment, disaster risk mitigation, racial and gender based discriminations causing poverty and unrest in our community. The organization has main focus in the rural area of and its vicinity. The majority of the people living in and around Sindhuli district are Dalit, marginalized, Janajatis and poor farmers. So, this organization is implementing various development interventions for betterment of livelihoods of those social groups and fighting for protection of their basic rights. This organization has been established by the group of social workers for all-round prosperity of rural populace.

Vision: Development of prosperous society with equality, justice and freedom.

Mission: To organize Dalit, Janajati, poor, women, children, youth and disadvantaged community to be self reliant through empowerment, employment creation, human rights protection and improved health status.

Goal: To improve the economic, educational, social, cultural and health status of child, youth, women and human rights situation of Dalit, ethnic minority castes women, children and all sect of disadvantaged community through integrated community development approach.

Objectives: 1. To bring social change by empowering men and women for their all round development. 2. To create awareness and provide services to the men, women and children of rural areas in their reproductive health, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV-AIDS etc. by collaborating with government and donor organizations. 3. To organize Dalit, Janajatis and other disadvantaged men and women against unsociability and gender/caste based discriminations/violence. We work to develop leadership so that they have a share in the local resources and participation in the decision making process in the local governance. 4. To start a campaign against various kinds of traditional obscurantism like, dowry system, veil system, child marriage, child labor, belief in witches etc. 5. To provide relief and support to the victims of natural disasters. 6. To create awareness for protection of natural environment of the rural areas. 7. To raise awareness of the community about their sanitation and hygiene, support in construction of safe drinking water system and latrine. 8. To coordinate for managing existing conflict in the rural areas for establishing social harmony and peace. 9. To promote Social Accountability through citizen awareness, empowerment and engagement 10. To organize the small and marginal farmers for their economic and social development. 11. To coordinate for elimination of bonded/ semi bonded labor and child labor. To work for the protection of those children, disaster stricken children as well as children at the risk of trafficking. 12. Major Achievements:

 8480 primary students (children) were benefitted through 20 Transitional Learning Center (TLC) constructions, distribution of educational kits (ECD kits, recreational kits, school kits, school in a bag kits) as well as educational materials in 187 schools. 86 TLC are in under construction.  12 Latrine constructed and 136 are in under construction in a school to improve the education, health and hygiene of children. WASH kits (soap, toilet cleaner, brush, smell killer (ODONIL), PUISH for water purification etc distributed in all those schools.  Water purification system established in schools of Hatpate VDC.  Selection of VDC level community paid volunteers in each 50 VDCs of Sindhuli district  Built the capacity and mobilized 50 SM for promoting good governance and accountability at VDC level.  Farmers in rural areas of the district gained awareness on common livestock diseases and their control measure as well as practices for better production through Agriculture Awareness and Livestock Development Program.  Rural residents in Hatpate and Nipane were supported for fresh vegetable production. Some 6 farmers are growing fresh vegetable for sale in local markets.  Perennnial grass for livestock management has been successful in and Jarayotar VDCs.  205 groups formed during different project implementation are still operating actively.  Basic information for irrigation project implementation collected from Bhimasthan and Sitalpati VDCs.  Some ten persons have gained professionalism in house wiring work in Hatpate and Nipane VDCs.

 Dam constructed in Kamala River has protected around 40 hectare of land in the bank of river.  Sixteen youth received basic Bamboo Craft Making training and using that skill in income generation.  Total of 57581HHs (about 292196 Population) have direct benefit from the project interventions from the beginning of NGO mobilization.  Built the capacity of 27 social mobilizers, 10 NGOs & 30 CBOs of Sindhuli on Good governance, social accountability, Social Accountability tools i.e public hearing/public audits/CSC/CRC/PETS/CM etc.
