The World's Best Triple Jump and Long Jump Athletes Perform in A
The world’s best Triple Jump and Long Jump athletes perform in a majestic setting « Le Saut des Géants » Open Athletics Championships in Tignes Wednesday 16th August The “Saut de Géants” athletics meeting in Tignes held its promise this Wednesday, 16thAugust. In an incredi- ble setting, at 3032 metres altitude, in front of a crowd of 3000 people, the first edition of this novel athletics meeting ended with the victory of two of the best athletes in the world: the long jumper, Luvo Manyonga, the new World Champion, and the triple jumper, Will Claye, who snatched victory from his favourite rival, Christian Taylor. To the delight of the public, present in numbers to watch the top international athletes perform, the sur- prise came from the Frenchman, Kafétien Gomis, who took 2nd place in the long jump event. LONG JUMP Manyonga leaps to victory whilst Gomis makes his best jump of the season (8, 22 m) in the “most beautiful stadium in the world " A crowd of spectators, gathered at the foot of the Grande Motte glacier, lived the suspense of the event until the very last second! The Uruguayan, Emiliano Lasa, the Jamaican, Damar Forbes and the Frenchman, Kafétien Gomis, all jumped further than 8 metres before Luvo Manyonga ended the competition with a jump of 8,46 metres, just 2 cm short of his performance at the recent World Championships! The French althlete, Kafétien Gomis, surpassed himself in a setting that apparently inspired him to perform his best jump of the season, 8.22 metres, improving on his previous best this year of 8, 01 metres. -

« LE SAUT DES GÉANTS » Open Athletics Championships in Tignes
PRESS RELEASE « LE SAUT DES GÉANTS » Open Athletics Championships in Tignes TRIPLE JUMP: The double Olympic Champion, Christian Taylor, will compete against Will Claye for a title at the summit! From 16th to 18th August 2017 For this amazing athletics meeting, due to take place at an altitude of over 3000 m, Tignes is proud to confirm the participation of the double Olympic Triple Jump Champion, Christian Taylor. Author of the 3rd best performance of all time in May in Eugene, the American, who has already jumped 18,11 m this year, aims to better the world record at the foot of the Grande Motte glacier. Here, he will compete against his compatriot and challenger, Will Claye. Will the World Record of 18, 29 m, held by the British athlete Jonathan Edwards, withstand the ardour of Taylor and Claye? Christian Taylor, second best global performer of all time ( 18,21 m in the final of the World Championships on 27th August 2015 in Beijing), has confirmed his presence at the highest athletics meeting on the planet. Making a promising start to the 2017 season (18,11 m in Eugene last May), the American will attempt to better the World Record of 18,29 m, held since 1995 by Jonathan Edwards. He will compete against his compatriot, Will Claye, also on the podium in Rio. With a record 17.91 m in 2017, this young athlete literally pushed Christian Taylor into a corner during the meeting in Paris, with a jump of 17.18 m. An intense duel that announces an exciting meeting, only a few days after the World Championships in London. -
