Fascinated by their military history, his collection grew in scope and diversity. 16 THE BUFFS EAST KENT REGIMENT IN KHAKI 9.5 9500 Circa 1900-1901, round base with side drummer, boy bugler and wasp-waisted offi cer. Extremely rare in this color—F.S.O. Khaki for the Boer War. 4 15 ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS 8.5 1200 Circa 1893-1900, extremely rare plug handed fi gures with black kilts and white stripes, offi cer’s sword and one rifl e are replacements, box is tattered, but otherwise a stunning set. 23 5TH ROYAL IRISH LANCERS 9.0 4250 24 9TH QUEEN’S ROYAL LANCERS 9.0 365 Circa 1895-1902, cross legged. One of the very best sets Britains produced with their exquisite Circa 1954-1962, fi gures are near mint. lime green plumes. Very diffi cult to fi nd with all of their lance tips present. Corners on box bottom split, no tie card. Label is very sharp—a terrifi c example of this set.

This is the fi rst example of this set I have ever seen replaced tie cards. This is the actual set from the Ed Ruby Collection pictured on page 40 of the Great and the condition is near perfect. Circa 1899-1902, pony horses, white helmets with offi cer turned in saddle. Nice set. 12 83 MIDDLESEX YEOMANRY 9.0 6500 Circa 1898-1900, Extremely rare split version with three troopers with short carbines at the ready on pony horses, one trooper with short carbine at the carry on rocking horse and offi cer on rearing Germanic horse. This is only the second example of this set I have handled. The fi rst was from the Miele Collection. This actual set was from the Ed Ruby Collection and is pictured in the Great Book of Britains on page 54, plate 76. This is one of the two sets in the Great Opie/Ruby Trans Atlantic mixup, a truly unique Britains situation; iconic to say the least! Box is worn but label is nice. A cornerstone set for any collection.

88 SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS 9.0 11500 Circa 1898-1902, extremely rare plug handed set. This is the only example of this set I have ever seen. Missing one tie card. My opinion is this is the best set in the entire collection. Bottom of box is worn, all the plug hands are original!
