History and brief description of publishing program World Scientific was founded in 1982, primarily as a Physics and publisher. While the company continues to have a very strong program in these two subjects, we have since expanded the publishing program into other subject areas, including Engineering, Computer Sci- ence, Economics and Finance, Medical and Life , Nanotechnology and others. Currently, nearly half of the 120 journals are in Physics and Mathematics. Our editors and authors include renowned scientists and several Nobel Laureates. Nobel Lectures, 1901-2000. Among the company’s notable successes was its being awarded the exclusive rights in1991 by the Nobel Foun- dation to publish (in English) the entire series of the Nobel lectures from 1971 to 1990 and to distribute them worldwide. Subsequently, World Scientific again obtained the rights to publish the complete series of Nobel lectures delivered from 1901 to 2000.
