II.1.4) Short description Merseytravel operates two passenger ferries each of approx. 647 tonnes capable of carrying approx. 650 passengers. The ferries are subject to planned out of water surveys and regular in water maintenance to ensure the safety and integrity of the vessels. These works include the repair and replacement of any structural steelwork in line with The Merchant Shipping (Passenger Ship Construction Ships of Classes III to VI(A)) Regulations 1998 – MSN 1699 (M) and the removal of any associated plant and machinery as identified for repair and survey by the surveyors of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. 2
Merseytravel is seeking suitably experienced marine contractors to carry out the annual surveys and undertake any remedial works throughout the term.

The vessels are generally available for survey over the winter months. October – March, when passenger demand is low. Should a bidder's facilities not have direct access to the River Mersey the bidder should detail in their submission proposed solutions to transport the vessel to their facility as the current class of the vessels prohibits in water transport to areas outside of the River Mersey. The procurement is to set up as a 4 year framework agreement with a single party. Value of works approx. 800 000 GBP over 4 years
