COUNCIL DELIGHTED WITH SUCCESSFUL ART EXHIBITION FERRYHILL TOWN Coun- cil has reported that the 2019 Art and Photogra- phy Exhibition was a huge success. With over 150 pieces of artwork displayed, the exhibition was enjoyed by everyone who visited. The exhibition gives local artists and pho- tographers an opportu- nity to showcase their work. Members of the public are then asked to vote on their favourite pieces of artwork in each cate- gory. The 2019 Art and Pho- tography Exhibition win- ners are as follows: Art – Morton McCarthy for his painting, Mallard; Photography – Gary Weatherston for his pho- tograph, Jungle Falls. Battling social exclusion for foodbank users People going hungry is an obvious result of poverty. Less obvious, though, is the social exclusion which often comes along with it. Many arenas of social life are frankly unavailable to those facing financial difficulties, and this can lead to loneliness and isolation. We would love to be able to point foodbank visitors to places of welcome and inclusion. We know that many churches, charities and community groups across County Durham run various activities which are free of charge and could be of great benefit to those who have become isolated by their Last year’s Year 5 children at Broom Cottages with their Goblin karts. circumstances.
