Cut

Cut flowers are flowers that have been removed from the parent plant. They play an important role in the industry, as they are the most widely used of the four basic groups. Many are utilized with stem and foliage still attached. Some are presented in clusters, while others appear as a single stem.

Cut Foliage

Cut foliage is greenery used to enhance and fill voids in an arrangement. The greenery will typically outlive the flowers themselves. The type of greenery used for each arrangement varies depending on the season. Myrtle, leatherleaf, and emerald are all examples of commonly used cut foliage.

Flowering Potted Plants

Potted foliage plants are typically bought as gifts. These are easily dressed up in baskets or foil and can have a multitude of add-ons such as balloons or candy. Some are only available during certain seasons, such as the poinsettia in the winter or lilies in the spring. Other common potted plants include cyclamens, begonias, and azaleas.

Potted Foliage Plants

Potted foliage plants may be preferred due to their low maintenance and longevity. Commonly, smaller foliage plants are planted together to create dish gardens. They are also very popular in creating fairy gardens.
