2 INTRODUCTION Why isn’t there a logo for the Structured dialogue The European Commission has its own logo as an institution. This logo is the predominant identifier of the Commission and its visibility ensures cohesion and consistency across all corporate communication. Creating a parallel visual identity would be confusing. For this reason, the Structured dialogue does not have a logo; it is a verbal brand. This will give its users the freedom to apply the name across a wide range of communication tools, besides the Commission logo, the European Youth Forum logo and the 3 Council Presidencies logos (past, present, future) The brand should appear on all communication products and tools which are developed for related initiatives and activities. The overarching theme for the Structured dialogue “#SpeakUp” should also become the reference framework for new and existing campaigns, events and activities.

Elements of the Campaign How to use the name “Structured dialogue” and the theme #SpeakUp? There should be a strong consistency across different communication tools when reference is made to the Structured dialogue. This is achieved by: bȩȩSQGLEȩRFCȩ?SRFMPGQCBȩL?KCȩ1RPSARSPCBȩBG?JMESC ȩ2FCȩL?KCȩF?Qȩ@CCLȩMȑAG?JJWȩRP?LQJ?RCBȩ (see page 4). bȩȩSQGLEȩRFCȩF?QFR?Eȩ1NC?I3N ȩ2FGQȩUGJJȩ,-2ȩ@CȩRP?LQJ?RCB ȩ?QȩUCȩLCCBȩRMȩ@Cȩ?@JCȩRMȩ monitor and track it across social media platforms. bȩȩSQGLEȩRFCȩ#SPMNC?Lȩ!MKKGQQGMLȩJMEM ȩthe European Youth Forum logo and the 3 Council Presidencies logos (past, present, future). You are invited to incorporate those elements in your communication (poster, brochure, website, social media, event etc.). There are no fixed places specified. The preferred option is to use them on the same page. The elements must be visible in their entirety without distorting or modifying their components. When the elements are used with other logos or text, make sure all the visuals have equal and balanced visual weight. These guidelines give concrete examples and ideas on how to apply the Structured dialogue - #SpeakUp as a brand name to different communication tools and products.

COLOUR

structured dialoGue

In order for the verbal branding to stand out against most backgrounds, it must always be presented as white text against a black background frame.

#speakup

The hashtag can be in different colours (Dark Blue, Dark purple, Cyan) depending on the background (Yellow, White) Where it is absolutely not possible to use the colour, for instance in black and white documents, or on pro- motional materials, then pure black and pure white should be used instead. In exceptional circumstances, and only if working in one colour, it is permitted to reverse the colours to make them appear against a black or dark background (cfr pg 16 merchandising examples). For instance:

Black White 100% Cyan 100% Yellow Purple C: 70 M: 100 Y: 10 B: 0 Blue C: 100 M: 80 Y: 0 B: 0

Structured dialogue 7 HOW TO USE

SIZE AND SHAPES: WAVES

Lines and “leaf” shape represent the sound of the voices speaking, the exchanges between people, the levels of speech. It is componed by 3 groups of thin lines and a background frame for the text “#SpeakUp - Structured dialogue”. The waves and “leaf” shape must be visible in its entirety without distorting or modifying the size or the lines weight. The lines can be in colour (White, Cyan and Yellow) and the “leaf” shape background can be White, Cyan or Yellow depending on the balance with the image main tonality. There are no fixed places specified. It can be at the top, middle or bottom of the page but it should be upper the image and across the width of the page. All of the individual words in the verbal branding and theme should be the original font size. The pro- portion of the letters should also not be changed, eg, do not crop, stretch or squash the letters in any direction. The words must remain horizontal, and cannot be rotated in any direction. Other text can be added outside those elements. No fixed places or sizes specified but make sure all the visuals have equal and balanced visual weight For instance: x - do not rotate, and do not change the proportions – do not stretch or squash or deform in any way. x #SpeakUp STRUCTURED DIALOGUE #SpeakUp x STRUCTURED DIALOGUE

IMAGES AND PHOTOGRAPHS

The images chosen to promote the Structured dialogue have as much impact as the verbal branding or the use of the logos. The pictures illustrate “Speech” activities linked to a conference, a meeting, a worshop, a debate. The pictures need to convey to the overall message of the Structured Dialgue that: “Have your say! Get involved and help change the world! Make your voice heard by those in charge!” Some guidance on choosing images: The photos should feature someone speaking or a group debating or a crowd of young people in a conference. In line with the overarching message above, the pictures will have to communicate colour, life, verve, accessibility and inspiration - as well as appear attractive and engaging! Use real photographs as much as possible. Do not use cartoons, or stock image library 3D shapes. Ensure you have all of the necessary rights / permissions / licenses to use the chosen images.

Youth Forum provides pictures with an extended license photos to use for the Structured dialogue. These images may be used only by the organisations in the frame of the Structured dialogue activitites. The images must be customized with the #SpeakUp, Structured dialogue and the partners logos for any publication, both on paper and electronic media and especially for social media promotion. Ensure you have added the credits for each chosen image (available under a Creative Commons license). These images can be downloaded: https://www.flickr.com/photos/europeanyouthforum/albums
