Mrs. Bernadette SMITH, Member for the Electoral Division for Point Douglas, was conducted by Mr. KINEW and Ms. FONTAINE to the floor of the House in front of Madam Speaker.

Mr. KINEW then said:

Madam Speaker, I have the honour to present to you Mrs. Bernadette SMITH, Member for the Constituency of Point Douglas, who has taken the Oath and signed the Roll, and now claims the right to take her seat.

Madam Speaker thereupon said:

On behalf of all Honourable Members, I wish to welcome you to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba and to wish you well in your parliamentary career.

Hon. Ms. CLARKE, the Minister of Indigenous and Northern Relations, made a statement regarding Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Ms. FONTAINE and, by leave, Ms. KLASSEN commented on the statement. ______

Following Ministerial Statements, Hon. Mr. FLETCHER rose on a Matter of Privilege regarding security in the Legislative Precincts and moved:

THAT the Speaker in her good judgement immediately convene MLAs and any other witnesses and resources in order to improve the security and safety and confidence of this place to insure that all its rights and immunities are protected according to our constitution.

And Hon. Mr. CULLEN, Ms. FONTAINE and Hon. Mr. GERRARD having spoken.
