JOB OVERVIEW: Rich Harvest Farms is a private golf course and estate located in Sugar Grove, Illinois that has played host to several amateur, collegiate, and professional tournaments. A new women’s global golf event called the will journey to RHF in 2016. The Crown will bring together 32 LPGA players from 8 countries worldwide, which if hosted today would include: Korea, , , Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), , Sweden, Spain, and the United States. Half of the field consists of Asian countries, which supports the statistic of 60 percent of the top 100 LPGA players being from Asia. National pride will be on full display at the Crown and women’s golf will be celebrated as a truly global game.

One of our main goals is to diversify our fan base and have thousands of spectators from the ethnic groups that represent these 8 countries. We want to draw out these ethnic groups and encourage them to come cheer for their country and see these players as role models and representatives of their homeland. Therefore, for 2014, we are heavily focused on getting the word out regarding the tournament to these ethnic communities, businesses, and media. Furthermore, because half the field of teams are represented through Asian countries, we would like to start our outreach with a focus on Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The International Relations and Education intern will work directly with the Communication Team, as well as various other RHF staff and his or her main duty is to assist in our outreach and partnerships with the various ethnic communities in the and Chicagoland area. This intern will participate in a variety of projects including:

 Act as a liaison between Rich Harvest Farms and our local/Chicago international contacts, which include Consulate Generals, ethnic media and chambers of commerce, ethnic organizations, and more o Translating and responding to emails and phone calls if needed o Setting up and facilitating meetings and presentations alongside other staff o Overall, maintaining these relationships and contacts going forward for the 2016 International Crown  Maintain Consulate and Ethnic Organization database  Understand Consulate involvement in 2014 at inaugural Crown and carry this forth to 2016  Assist in working with local ethnic media and writing news articles geared toward the ethnic communities  Assist in networking and translating if needed at ethnic events (i.e. Korean Health Fair, etc.)

 Conduct, organize, and collate country and ethnic research for various projects, including the Crown FORE Kids Pavilion (i.e. country facts such as official language, capital, currency, etc.)  Based on the above research, create appropriate and educational stations and materials for the Crown FORE Kids Pavilion  Assist with strategic partnerships for the Crown FORE Kids Pavilion for booths and/or sponsors  Assist in planning co‐programs between Rich Harvest Farms and the Kids Golf Foundation (i.e. incorporating Culture and Diversity Life Skills into golf programs)  Assist in planning co‐programs between Rich Harvest Farms and the Kids Golf Foundation at NIU’s International Education Week and/or other similiar community events  Maintain yourself to the high standards set by Rich Harvest Farms in appearance, demeanor, and in all communication  Relating to superiors academic requirements and other benchmarks that need to be fulfilled during the internship

HOURS AND SCHEDULE: This internship schedule is flexible to meet the needs of current students. A weekly schedule may range from 15 to 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during our office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend hours during events may be needed at times and advance notice of these dates will be given.
