Overview • On Sept. 8, 1942, American Airlines became the first international airline to fly to Mexico. The airline is now the leading U.S. carrier in the country. • From its hubs in the United States, American offers connections to 339 cities in 45 countries throughout the world, with approximately 6,700 daily flights. Mexico is the largest international destination for American with more cities served than any other country.
