Saturday afternoons: October 16, November 13, December 11 1 to 4 pm Pacific Time Gather together, share space, connect and safely explore in this interactive and creative group space. The problems we face need Creativity. In this trauma informed group work we practice compassion, role play and embodied presence; for self and others. From a place of connection and safely, the problems we share, individually and communally, naturally arise. Our practice is to be with and explore what comes forward in creative ways that allow for unique insights and surprising and effective ways of being. Saturday Afternoons: Oct 16, Nov. 13, Dec. 11 1 - 4 PM Pacific Time In this psychodrama session we will bring our care and resiliency forward "for the good of all our relations". The methods and theories of Psychodrama, Group Psychotherapy, and Sociometry will guide our creative explorations; revealing the dynamic processes work beneath our complex and interdependent lives. Marianne practices psychotherapy in Mount Vernon, WA and has been actively engaged in co-facilitating experiential Psychodramatic group explorations and trainings, most often with her husband Bob, in Skagit county, WA for over 22 years. Starts October 16 Developed and presented by Connie Feutz, MA, LMHC Would you and your partner like to participate in an inspiring and effective couple’s workshop, from the privacy and comfort of your own home? Well, here it is! The Mindful Love Course is a 5-week online course in which Connie Feutz shares the fundamentals of what she has learned over her 35+ years of clinical experience about what creates and sustains a strong, resilient and harmonious relationship, drawing from what five masters of love and relationship teach, including John Gottman, Sue Johnson and Thich Nhat Hanh. Couples receive a videotaped lecture at the beginning of each week that they watch at their leisure, as well as suggested exercises to do together over the week. At the end of the week, Connie is available for a live Zoom Q&A, which will be taped and archived for folks who need to watch it later. Offered six times a year. Over the 5 weeks, Connie offers you 14 exercises to do together, all of which support increased connection and navigating conflict. Exploring Non-Monogamy: 6-Session Therapeutic Workshop. Starts October 20 An intensive, interactive workshop designed to help you explore and build healthy, successful ethically non-monogamous relationships 2021 - October Whatcom Mental Health - Newsletter 2 / 108 Are you ready to explore non-monogamy, but aren't sure where to start? Are you already in a non- monogamous relationship, but wonder if it could be even more fulfilling? This interactive, group-based learning workshop offers guidance and tools for building successful non- monogamous relationships, regardless of current relationship status. Taught by Brandie Lourenco, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, sessions will provide a space for exploring non-monogamy principles and dynamics, as well as offering concrete tools and strategies to explore at home. Topics covered include: Core principles of non-monogamy Tools for dealing with jealousy Communication skills and styles Attachment and non-monogamy Building a path to opening up Class Dates (all Wednesdays): October 20, November 3, November 17, December 1, December 15, and January 5. Although this therapeutic workshop takes place in a group setting, participants will always have the option to share at a level that is comfortable for them. All genders are welcome. After registering for the class, participants will be contacted by the instructor to discuss your personal goals and how they will be incorporated into the workshop. This session will also cover the group rules and expectations regarding privacy and confidentiality. About the Instructor: Brandie Lourenco graduated with a Clinical Psych Masters in 2015 and began private practice in 2017 as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or LMHC. She specializes in working with kink, BDSM, and ethical non-monogamy as well as LGBTQ+ issues. Being a member of the queer and poly community, she has a passion for social issues and sex positive education. Brandie is a PNW native and has lived in Bellingham for 8 years. The Pandemic - Surviving Worry & Anxiety: Women's Group. (Virtual) October 27-November 17 Four Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm Pacific Time This is a 4-week psychoeducational/process group designed to give women tools to help guide them through surviving worry and anxiety during these uncertain times. This group will focus on exploring the constructs of worry and anxiety, provide tools to help cope with the negative effects of worry and anxiety, and allow for space that promotes collective healing. Group meets weekly using a telehealth (virtual) platform on Wednesday 5:30-6:30 pm for four consecutive weeks. November 6 10 am – 5 pm Experiential Group Work for Personal and Professional Development in Bow, WA co-Facilitated by Bob and Marianne Shapiro, M.Ed, MA, LMHC, Trainer, Educator and Practitioner of Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama, and Sociometry. This trauma informed creative group work honors the wisdom stored in the body. We attune to what is, and work with what is possible as we address old trances and open to new connections. December 1-22 Four Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm Research tells us that experiencing positive emotions helps us to build our inner strength and resiliency, in addition to making us more creative, helping us with our focus and attention, and supplying us with more positive well-being. Research also gives us the tools to help us experience more positive emotions. This group will focus on exploring those tools and provide methods of using these tools in our daily lives. Group meets weekly using a telehealth (virtual) platform on Wednesday 5:30-6:30 pm for four consecutive weeks. Friday mornings 9:30-11:30 am; 6-20 weeks Who: parents (of all genders) of babies under 1ish: LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, birthing/nonbirthing, first time parents and parents with older children, etc. are all welcome. Pregnant and expecting parents may also join! Cost: sliding scale - affordable for EVERY parent If you have a new baby, you already know that one of the most challenging parts of being a parent is dealing with your own complicated emotions. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DNT) is an evidence-based treatment designed for people struggling with emotional dysregulation - which is practically standard for a new parent! This group draws upon the well- established skills group model of DBT, tailored specifically for parents of babies.
