Introduction and Opening remarks During his opening remarks the Hon. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Cooperative and Rural Development welcomed the partners for new year and general security situation is claim in Warrap along the border areas. He noted that the lack of resources is great challenge for year 2015 plans, and he requested FSL cluster members should do more interventions activities to ensure the food security in the state has is secured. ACTED Update on plan 2015 A. FAO Project Area: two counties of Warrap state, Gogrial West and Tonj North; Objective: improve food security, livelihoods and income for vulnerable but economically active agro-pastoralist; Outputs: - 10 Farmers field schools established - 300 HHs trained on improved vegetable production and marketing through FFA platform - 300 HHs supported with vegetable kits, hand tools and micro-irrigation equipment - 10 Natural Resources Management Committees established to manage water points

B. Building resilience and adaptation to climate extremes and disasters program (BRACED) - ACTED is waiting final approval of BRACED project to be implemented in Warrap State, Gogrial West county on building resilience adaptation to climate extremes and disasters; - Project should be funded by DFID and implemented in collaboration with Concern Worldwide (lead), Oxfam, FAO and SUDD Institute. - Duration for 26 months, staring date: not yet confirmed C. FFA program by WFP Community consultation meeting with payam and boma chiefs held in Tonj South county in December 2014. Implementation area: 1. Tonj payam. Aguka boma ,Kuanyja boma,Maual boma 2. Thiet payam. Ngap-Anet boma, Theit bome 3. Wath-Alel payam. Mabior boma, pawel bome 4. Jak payam. Majok boma Note: FFA project is not yet approved officially by WFP but forecasted starting date is February 2015.

- Fishing kits - Livestock kits distribution 2. SDC Project to improved food security and livelihood development for agro- pastoralist communities in Warrap and Northern Bahr El Ghazal states. This project is targeted two counties of Warrap as Gogrial East and Tonj North. 3. Agriculture and Food Information System (AFIS) Project: It aims at supporting the institutionalization of robust food security information systems as well as developing capabilities both at the national and state levels for food security information management. The overall impact of the AFIS Project is to contribute to “improved food security in South Sudan” over the long term. The expected outcome is realizing “Improved Food Security Information Management for planning, programming, coordination and decision-making in South Sudan”.

Next month planned activities:  FAO will support the vegetable production groups with assorted vegetable seeds and tools for the dry season vegetable farming through MAFC &RD and partners  Identification of implementing partners and preparing of the LOAs document for ELRP kits distribution to the beneficiaries in six counties.  Facilitate installation of four rain gauges in four Counties by providing metallic posts for mounting rain gauges  Dissemination of last December 2014 IPC products release findings to partners and stakeholders

NRC Update on Food Security Cluster 2015 Plan

South Sudan Rural Development Project (SORUDEV) program In 2015, NRC will continue implementing the South Sudan Rural Development Program (SORUDEV) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Cooperatives and Rural Development (SMAFR&RD), Lukluk Community Association for Development (LCAD) and Ox plough Farming Agency (OFA). The first year of the project ends in April 2015 with the second year starting from 1st of May 2015 up to April 2016. The project which will end in January 2017 targets a total of 5, 000 smallholder farmers across four counties of Warrap State namely Gogrial East, Gogrial West, Tonj South and Twic. L-CAD Update

1. Achievements: 1.1. Assembling of (12) bicycles and were distributed to project extension & support staff 1.2. Formation & registration of:  Seven farmers’ groups in Tonj Payam (Tonj South County)  eight (8) farmers’ groups in Kuac South and nine (9) in Kuac North Payam (both in Gogrial West County)  One Farmers’ group in Toich East and five in Toich West (both in Gogrial East County)  The total number of Farmers’ groups registered this period is twenty six (each consisting of 25 members) 2. Challenges  Difficulty to change community mindset to adopt the ‘No Free inputs principle’ as coined in the Wau workshop resolutions  Shortage of mobility facilities allocated for this project as project areas are far apart  Inaccessibility of some project areas for this program was intended to be implemented in areas believed to have been accessible and secure 3. Plans  Completion of the formation & registration of farmers ‘groups in the remaining project areas.  Conduct of environmental awareness and land use & planning workshop.  Training of farmers ‘group in leadership and representation. CHALLENGES & RECOMMENDATIONS  Inadequate of mobility facilities (e.g. vehicles), hence recommends FAO to provide the agreed motorbikes for facilitation  Inaccessibility in some project areas (flooding)  High prices in transportation of participants  Plans  We plan to monitor the remaining technical training in Gogrial and Alek South Payams  Planed to conduct technical training of Natural Resource Management Committees (NRMCs) at the State level  Monitor how project is progressing  Training of Framers on FFS approaches Any Other Business  FSL partners agreed that the next FSL coordination meeting will be held on Thursday, 12th February 2015, at 11:00AM.
